Hunting with Man's best friend

So, perhaps a little different to the usual stuff…

My Belgian Shepherd cross is a complete farm dog and considering I got him so young, he's very attached to me, and I to him. He's a pillar of strength in hard times.

I'm busy trying to get him used to gun shots (in the same way that you would train a horse to do so). Hoping that I can start taking him on hunts, if the opportunity presents itself.

I was wondering if anyone hunted along side their k9 friend? I don't mean gun dogs or tracking dogs, I mean walking out your front door and your pooch coming along because "f#ck you, you aren't just leaving me at home".

Obviously this is more directed at PH's and farmers...

This entirely depends on the dog to me. Dogs that are obedient and stay by your side its not much of a problem, but if its a little more rambunctious the extra movement/ excitement can be an issue.
