My son is doing a semester abroad January of 27 and would like to do a hunt around visiting him. If anyone has any suggestions or know of an outfitter to get ahold of

Hello, my name is Pablo Carol, I am an outfitter in Spain. It will be a pleasure to send you information and references if needed. This is my website: www.wildhuntingspain.com. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Just keep in mind you have to obtain a Spain hunting/gun permit from Spanish consulate in US before you hunt regardless whether you rent or bring your own rifle. I hunted with Espacaza. A Monteria is a Spanish driven hunt and would be a good hunt for January. They can be very reasonably priced too depending on quota and expected trophy size.

If he is there all spring semester you could visit in April to hunt roe deer with several outfitters. I hunted roe deer in 2025 with Hunt Trip Spain who will be at SCI. @JES Adventures introduced them to me at the 2024 DSC meeting, they were great to hunt with and if not bringing your own rifle but renting from them as I did then you don’t have to mess with the rifle permit because they hunt their own property. As they explained to me you only need the rifle permit when hunting elsewhere or if you bring your own rifle. In Oct 2025 I hunted chamois with Trophy Hunting Spain and they were great too, had to get a rifle permit for that hunt as we were in the Pyrenees hunting on National preserve land. Trophy Hunting Spain will be at SCI as well. Both of these were good outfitters. In the Spring time you could hunt roe deer, chamois or ibex species

Hello, in fact, even if you are renting a rifle you still need to obtain a gun permit. This is the document that allows you to have a temporary firearms permit in Spain; otherwise, you would be hunting without a valid firearms permit. It is a time-consuming process, but we are used to it and we always assist our hunters throughout the entire procedure.

I hunted in Spain and I believe the hassle up front is worth it. The Spanish Consulate's form is simple, but there's admin paperwork required of the PH that you must include in your packet. I found the consulate's approval and turn around time to be fairly quick-I think mine was three weeks. Just pay attention to the consulate's instructions on their website and give yourselves time for this part because you don't want to be caught short.

Just remember, Spain has a 21% VAT on top. Plan accordingly.

Is it possible to get it refunded? I’ve read something about non-EU residents can file for a full refund on VAT.

I believe that you can get it refunded on goods that are leaving the country. But not on services which is what your guiding and trophy fees would be considered.

I have scheduled an April 2027 hunt with the help of @huntingconsortium. Super easy thus far, and highly recommend.

This is correct, has to be paid on goods actually leaving the country to get the refund

Exactly. Unfortunately, services in-country aren't VAT refundable. it's a chunk of money you don't expect until you get the final invoice. BTW Every service provided is taxed, so watch what you request or have to pay so you know what to expect and what you can be exempt from.

You will be paying VAT on every hunt, anywhere in Europe. Most of the time it’s included in the price, but Spain add it on.

Nice Report! Im about to pull the trigger on booking the LDE with Patrick. I have been talking about it with him for about 3 yrs now. Romain hit me up the other day with an offer I can't refuse for 2027.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?
