Hi, There, From Idaho

Looking around Nampa to Cascade. Leaning towards the southern edge. Heard a lot of good things about that area. Want to get away from the East Coast. Need peace and quiet

Johan, in 1986 I hunted in Zimbabwe with Con van Wyk. Any relation?
There were 3 van Wyk families who arrived in South Africa around 1678, two were brothers. The van Wyks are scattered all over the African continent. Most probably we might be related, but not that I know of.
Hope he was a good guy!!:ROFLMAO:

Welcome to AH Gun Talker!

Welcome. My wife and I live in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Been here for a bit over 40 years. You’ll have a wonderful time in Africa. This is a good site for meeting folks and learning about the African continent. Lots of people with real experience on this site.

Thanks! I’ll be in your neighborhood next week, hunting moose in Unit 4.

Then to the Middle Fork for separate hunts for elk and mule deer.

We had a ball. I was hunting with Mark Brown, from Brown Precision.

Good luck with the moose. In the 41 years we’ve lived here I’ve drawn both a cow and bull tag. Filled em both. A cow near Spirit Lake and a very small bull south of the Locksaw River at Elk Summit.

I also hunted the middle fork for sheep. Very difficult country on foot. Saw 37 sheep in a week but not a single ram.

Really steep country. I have gone to the Ultra Light Arms rifles (Melvin Forbes) for hunting in the wildnerness area where we carry everything when we hunt. I do fly my plane back there, though. ;)

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
