I am looking for some customisation of my rifle - which colour recoil pad suits it the best? If any advice on specific brand/type, please chip in. Currently has the black one fitted

The first one looks like a Silvers Pad. Unobtainable nowadays, looks classy too.

JK, man

I like this one

I like #1. Here is a source for Silver’s pads I’ve used. I’ve been pleased with them.

Really like both the orange and red - difficult to decide… maybe even the black one looks very good. How is the recoil dampening from the silvers pad? Is it very hard?

The Silvers pad do a good job. A lot of it depends on the surface area of the base of the pad. The more surface area to spread the perceived recoil the better.
A gunsmith fitted one for me years ago. I commented that it appeared a bit broad. His reply was that I could shoot the gun all day without discomfort. Well I’ve never shot it all day but have used it on some driven pheasant shoots where you might have a good bit of shooting on one or two pegs.

It’s a material very similar to pencil eraser. It’s a simple proven design with a void or hollow in the middle, which may make it slightly more compliant. It’s commonly used on heavy recoiling rifles. Newer designs likely absorb recoil better.

orange colour looks great
i need to get some for me

Black classy. The best IMO are the pig skin wrapped ones found in high end British rifles and shotguns.

Forgive my ignorance, but when one mounts a pad like this, is it more common to keep or remove the spur? And if you keep it, how does one usually notch out the stock for it?

Very beautiful rifles! Do you know what brand recoil pad? The silver is very difficult to locate in Europe…
Thank you, all three of them have Pachmayr Old English Recoil Pads.

If you're looking for the traditional Silvers pad, Craig Klintworth out of South Africa offers new pads in various softness in red and orange. This is one on a rifle I am putting together for myself, I've used a handful of his pads and have been very pleased with them. I generally reach him on Facebook

I too bought my replacement Silvers recoil pad from Connecticut Shotgun for my Heym 450/400 88B. I needed to add an inch to my length of pull and Silvers had a pad that was 1" thinker than the original Heym pad. JJ Perodeau mounted it for me.

I keep it if the stock is already inletted for a widow’s peak. It requires hand fitting. If it’s not, I simply sand it off the pad.

Do you mind me asking what auction you are referencing? I'm not in the market for any of those rifles...just curious.
