Hi guys, hope you can help with seeing what mauser I picked up as im clueless haha, it's a model 98 at least in .243 with a Parker hale trigger. Looks like where it would usually say mod 98 on the side of the reciever it's written in fraktur. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

This rifle is built on a military surplus action. We need a better picture of the front left side of the action, in order to determine whether it has a small or large receiver ring. The modification to the bolt knob may or may not assist with identification.

That scratched on serial number is very reminiscent of the butchery done by the police department here in south Australia in their belief that it won’t damage the value of the firearm

Is the stamped text in fraktur alphabet? I can't make out any letters that coincide with anything I'm seeing online for fraktur letters.

The pics answer the question ;)
Parker-Hall, England.
Typically assembled on a Zastava Yugoslavian Mauser action.

I think that's an Erfurt Kar98 action - small ring.
Do a google image search. You'll see others marked the same.

The serial number is also nicely stamped on the other side.

Seems the Fraktur-style markings are for WWI-era Kar98AZ models, along with the small-ring receiver.

I'm thinking it was a Parker-Hale or some other post-WWII sporterized surplus rifle, especially with the bolt handle redone like that.

Can you see anything on the front receiver ring around the scope base, may need to take the base off to see, assuming that it isn’t soldered on. And it’s a kar98 with mismatched numbers from what I can see , and that stamped thistle like image, over the part number, is vaguely familiar

That thistle like image also seems familiar to me but I cannot work out why.

Looks like a thistle or oak leaf with J and S below it. Perhaps just a little mark by a previous owner?

i believe its a 3 and a 5
When I looked at the other pic it is clearer, middle letter could be a 2.
That mark stamped on the actual floor plate , above the part number, I’ve seen that before as well, cannot remember where, the gun looks like it will clean up nicely, what’s the stock like.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)
