Yes, I shoot left handed but all my rifles are for right handed shooters. I’ve gotten used to running the bolt by using my left hand over the scope, been doing it that way for 20 years. Figured if I was going to buy a rifle for an Africa hunt I’d go ahead and buy a left handed rifle.

Yes, we live in Covington. Been here for 30 years, used to live in the Buford/Lawrenceville area when I was little.
That would be awesome to see.
I was wanting something chambered in .375 H&H Magnum, but couldn’t justify the price of some of those rifles. I settled for a Ruger chambered in .375 Ruger and I may start reloading my own ammo. Would make sense for me since I have a few other calibers to choose from: .308, 30-30, 5.56, and several pistol calibers.

Scott welcome to AH. I am also a fellow left handed shooter who own a left handed Ruger African in 375 Ruger. I will be taking the 375 Ruger on a Buffalo hunt in June.

Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

Looks like you’re holding up a trevally aka Jack Trevally and other monikers.
So when planning a hunting trip to Africa, consider 2 or 3 days of fishing.
My wife, just like yours is not interested in hunting but truly loves fishing and scuba diving (snorkeling as well).

Therefore, when we go anywhere that I plan to hunt, it is only fare play that we plan to at least fish as well, every time.
And in some places, we also get to do a bit of under water sight seeing.
Some places I even get in a bit of spear fishing, (via snorkeling & short spear gun).

Fishing and diving are two things we both enjoy so, our travels, including my hunting trips when accompanied by her, typically include those activities as well.
On that note, we prefer Namibia for all the above except diving.
The sea is surprisingly cold there (the tough locals do lobster diving there though).
And the Okavango River is festooned with huge crocodiles and grouchy hippos.

Both waters do offer fantastic hook and line fishing though.
However, pretty much any African country can offer great fishing.
Even the land locked ones generally have amazing fresh water fishing.

Anyway, what I’m getting at is that I recommend doing as much as possible to insure your wife has fun her first trip to Africa.
Someone said, “Happy wife, happy life”.
Not saying to cut yourself short on hunting days but instead, consider adding in enough days for whatever activities she likely might want to do.

Perhaps she might enjoy volunteering at an orphanage, to include playing soccer with the kids, (my wife enjoys that), or souvenir shopping, or playing golf, or riding quad bikes (aka: “4 wheelers”) on deserted beaches, or bird watching, whatever.
It’s all there, in most African countries, provided that you book with the right safari company.

I do appreciate the info. We both like freshwater and deep sea fishing. I took her to Hilton Head, South Carolina last year and that was her first time going deep sea or ocean fishing in general. She’s been hooked ever since.
