Harare

York Lodge is also a very good option. They also cater to hunters and is the place I stay with family or business.

I just stayed a night at Grosvenor House in Harare, wonderful place, and had a splendid dinner at Three Monkeys. Both were recommended by my PH with Dalton & York. The lady that runs the BnB has a teen son with PH ambitions and who did a sort of internship this April/May with D&Y, spending 5-6 weeks in the bush between Omay North and South.

I’d go back to both of these establishments happily, multiple times. View attachment 762732View attachment 762733View attachment 762734View attachment 762735View attachment 762736View attachment 762737
How did you go checking firearms in?

What would you recommend to do in Vic Falls (other than visiting the Falls)?
Can you recommend any specific lodging place?
I would recommend a drink at the Lookout cafe, lunch at the River Brewery. My wife loves high tea at Victoria Falls hotel, also a nice place to stay. I would also recommend Safari Lodge for sundowners over the waterhole and dinner.

Ive never been to Harare, I have only hunted by Vic Falls and up on the western end of lake Kariba. If you go to Vic falls instead, there is a bunch to do here. I always stay at the Victoria Falls Safari lodge when I go. One of my favorite activities is to sit in the hide by the water hole at this lodge. Usually you can get some great close up pictures of buffalo and elephant. Do not do this in the morning, only the evening. The waterhole is very underwhelming during the morning hours for whatever reason. This picture is using my cell phone and she is only a few feet away. We got stuck in the hide for quite a while because this group of elephants wouldn’t leave. We’ve been stuck in there for extended time 3 out of 4 times we’ve been there because of elephants. She was curious enough that she was about to stick her trunk into the blind investigating and probably would have if it wasn’t for my buddy’s wife that is scared of her own shadow.

As has been mentioned by others, get lunch/drinks at the lookout cafe. Daylight hours obviously is best here for the view. Possibly dinner at 3 monkeys and if you love chocolate, get their chocolate torte dessert, or dinner at the boma show. Not my favorite thing to do at all but some people love it.

The dinner river cruises are alright as well, sometimes can run into hippos on the banks. Then of course you have the falls that you can go to, or take a helicopter ride over the top of it for a different perspective of it. You can do an elephant encounter where you can touch and feed some elephants and at the same time almost always see some warthogs up close and personal as they want to clean up the pellets that are still on the ground after the feeding. You can do an evening game drive/bush dinner at Stanley and Livingstone hotel. The dinner around the fire has always been fantastic. Can see rhino on these drives. Of the big five, I’ve seen everything but leopard there on drives.

So in Harare I used a gal just like in JoBerg to handle arrival and departures…she knows who to call and get them there to do entry and exit permitting, which in Zim it’s important since they don’t just hang around an office waiting. With Airlink, you email to get preauthorization, and then pay for the handling fee at the airport…once you check in, the ticket counter will send you back to the airlink pay office just 50yds away.

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
