Was at a local sportmens show a while back and saw a new Euro mount prototype from a small company Ive bought antler mounts from out of Indiana. Looked great as it uses a ball and socket to position the skull in almost any orientation you want or need it in. Received an email that they were in and grabbed one to test on a spring bok and Impala. I can easily say that I'll be grabbing more as they adjust the skull exactly how you need it to fit. Grabbed a couple shots to show what it can do...left face, right face, nose up, nose down...the socket is pretty slick. Tightens down on the ball and then a set screw to lock it all in.

They have 2 sizes, but the regular size should fit anything up to Kudu, Blue Wildebeest, Waterbuck. Big one maybe for the Eland and larger.

No connection to the company, but I work in product development and really appreciate what went in to these and like to give small companies a shot.

I've been using Skull Hooker which is similar.
Yes, I have some skull hookers as well. Great and simple mounts.

I've been tinkering this morning with this Rack Hub mount and cannot over state the difference this ball and socket make. Every possibly angle I would wanted it achievable. I see they have a patent on it which is smart...technology that's been proven over millenia in biology and used in so many industries now. Just all around slick and solid.

I think this is a neat idea. But, I need help understanding why everyone that comes out with a "Euro hook mount" needs to price them at $40-$120. $70 for the small one in this example and $120 for the large.

I really like the ball and socket idea of this mount, but a ball and socket isn't something new, or expensive. You can buy "dual trail camera mounts" which have two ball and socket camera mounts, that look and operate just like the single one on this new euro mount.

But for 2 camera mounts, and a large 3-5 foot metal stand it costs between $25-$35......for two of them....and a lot more metal material to be fabricated.

Additionally, there are super cheap readily available alternatives for hanging a skull, which should make the price lower, but doesn't seem to.

How does it attach to the skull?

Ill grab a pic when I get home, but there is a small extension piece/ rod that goes through the spinal cord hole in the skull base with a machined "T" on it that mounts to the occipital (had to reference their site for that one :ROFLMAO:) bone to hold it. Almost self centers because of that rod which is nice.

I think this can be likened to you can hunt with a $500 or a $1500, both do the same.
A nail would also work to hold a skull if that's all you want. The stamped metal cheap options do the same. They absolutely have their place to get euros up on the wall.

What I like about this is like you say, the socket concept let's you turn left, turn right, nose up, nose down, et witu so much flexibility. I have limited wall space left and like that I can fine tune these skulls. And with the cost of my taxidermy shipment that's inbound from Zim...no more shoulder mounts for me! o_O

Added to that, they have a great look to them and they machine in the US. I do tend to splurge on my hunting hobby and lord knows this site helps....:ROFLMAO:

I never cared for Skull Hooker. Many of our clients like them but stick out too far for my liking.

My impala and springbuck are mounted with a window sash handle cut in half. The skulls hang touching against the wall. It works well for them because those skulls don't need to be tipped. For skulls that require tipping for proper presentation I make my own hangers.
