A 200kg consignment of ivory that the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) intercepted at the Robert Mugabe International Airport on Monday belonged to former First Lady Grace Mugabe.

The ivory, which was stashed in four boxes was intercepted yesterday with the help of the country’s security agencies who were on duty at the airport according to ZBC news site.

Two people, who are alleged to have been facilitating the movement of the consignment have been identified as Robert Mugabe’s aides following the interception and investigations have pointed to Grace Mugabe as the owner of the contraband.

Grace was accompanying her husband Robert on Monday evening, an official said. They are expected to make a stop-over in Malaysia, where their daughter, Bona, is expecting a second child.

It is news....but no surprises here!

Stereotypical African leaders, corrupt to the bone.

I hope the Trump administration sees this.

Edit, also the legislators in charge of U.S. foreign aid.

Just think, how much ivory have they shipped out over the years? I bet it's in the TONS category. Sad.

Everyone is so ready to jump to conclusions maybe she legally hunted these elephant and she was on her way to the taxidermist, yah right!!![emoji23]

The old saying "Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely" comes to mind. Lets hope the new regime does what it should, instead of turning a blind eye

+1

At least she is gone, for how long who knows? Reminds me of a song from the wizard of oz Ding dong you know the rest of the words!

The sheer gall of these people never ceases to amaze. They likely have enough for dozens of lifetimes stashed abroad, but it's never enough.

It should not be hard to discover who is behind this, but my guess is she will physically attack the investigator, and then claim immunity from prosecution. And get it!

Time for the Crocodile to show which side he's on.

Thanks for the laugh.... :ROFLMAO:

No surprise to me either.

Very sad but no surprise at all, grrrr. But we've got it all covered as evidenced by our finest in action with the two pressing issues/questions I was grilled on during the CBP inspection upon returning from my last trip to Africa, "where is that porcupine quill you picked up and where is the serial number on your rifle stock?".... good to know all the elephants, rhinos, big cats, pangolins, painted dogs and sea turtles are safe now....

Notice what is missing from the article? Who has the ivory now???? Bet they knew exactly when where and what to look for as this has probably happened before but were afraid to act on it. I know I would be afraid to cross them until recent events. Glad they at least stopped this one.

Question is whether they will now do anything about this or just sweep it under the rug like before.

Good.

My reluctance to hunt in Zimbabwe is in large part linked to the corruption of the old regime. I have difficulty trusting anything they say about conservation because they're so profit driven. This is just another example.

Let's see how the new regime plays out.

Her and Robert should have been stood up to a wall and shot many years ago
Many years ago I jokingly offered - on condition the country was renamed "Timbos-land"!! :E Laugh::E Laugh::E Laugh:

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
