Hello to the members here.

Often when I research a subject, this forum comes up. I figured it is about time to join and learn more and also to contribute in those areas where I can.

Thanks for the opportunity.

Welcome to AH.

Contribute some content and make sure AH shows up even more often in searches. :)

Look forward to it.

Welcome on board Gerard. Your experience sounds a little like mine. I mucked around reading things on this forum for a year or two before I joined.

When I joined the collective wisdom of the entire AH community dropped a couple of points. I am sure your membership will raise it back up to where it was before I came on board.

Thanks for the welcome.

Gerrit, every so often I have a look for bad experiences due to bullet failure. I have spent the last 30 or so years chasing such things down and eliminating them. Bullet failures would fall into two categories: Bullet design that makes it difficult to hit what one is shooting at and bullet failure once the bullet transitions from flight to submerged in the target.

Also, the search is always on for persons or research institutions that are doing work in similar fields.

this is a subject that can have one busy for some time (30 Years):pcwhack:, as bullet failure has so may factors influencing it. even a very good bullet will have some extend of failure when hitting hard bone!!! please post some of your findings as this would make for interesting reading?

Looking forward
Best Regards

Gerrit, I am not going there. Many (so called) problems are deemed insoluble and, when one finds solutions and talk about it, those who deem the problem insoluble, turn to derision. :meyou:

This leads to name calling and, when someone makes fun of me, I make fun right back at them. It does not sit well with most moderators and leads to banning. :whip:

No Problem, i understand where youre coming from, I've seen this on other forums as well. but when you find something interesting and would like to share it with someone, PM me!

welcome to Ah, and i think you must be referring to another site i have heard about that seems to have a bit of a reputation for people who know everything....or think they do :D, i think you will find that people on here are open to discussion and disagreement in a fairly laid back easy going way. it doesnt usually take all powerful supermoderator Brickburn :hail: to step in, as the populace usually tell the person who is getting a bit irate to wind his neck in and calm down...so go ahead and reveal your thinkings on the subject/s .

The only part of that concern that will get my attention is the "derision". People want to debate, go to town and have fun. Agreeing to disagree is usually the mode for the more respectful folks here.

Please share your research. I am interested in learning.

Gerard,

Are you going to tell the good folks on AH what you do for a living?

Is that a Barnes Bullet in your avatar? :)

Welcome to AH Gerard.

We are always open to good natured debate over here.

As long as we respect each other !

Humor is an essential part of daily life and respect is always a given. It is good to remember that always.

Mike, I was hoping not to tell as it may tread on some toes, grown men can be so sensitive at times. Just exchanging ideas and info would be good and, no, that is not a Barnes bullet in my avatar. Just feeling my way for the moment.

At a social evening a bunny person asked what we did for a living. I replied that we are in fast moving consumables. The bunny person became very interested and wanted more info. I said that we had found a commodity that people bought with the express purpose of getting rid of it as fast as possible and, that we do not want to talk too much about it. It is a niche market, I said.
:)

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
