I've got a lot gaitors for snow, but I can't find the little canvas ones worn by PH's to keep seeds and stems out of their shoes. Anyone know of a source?.......thanks...............FWB

There’s a few cheapies on Amazon. I think Africa Sporting Creations also sells some nicer ones.

I've actually been looking for a pair like that today lol. There's a couple different ones on Amazon. I like the looks of the canvas ones

Boyt—-Midway

I’ve got a pair of the boyts that I picked up at DSC a few years back... very durable for the price... but for my Sasquatch sized self I found them to be a little on the short side...

So I’ve started the process of making a set from a piece of cape buff hide I’ve got...

Whew ! for a moment there I thought you were talking about alligaitors. I have only seen short canvas ones in an army surplus store fwiw.

Boyt unless you want to spend some serious $. I’ve also used the Texas hunt co Safari gaiters. They are just as good.

I've used the Boyt canvas ones for 32 days of hunting in SA and they are good as new. I treat the outside with scotchguard and the inside with permethrin before each trip.

Boyt canvas gaiters. Haven’t tried them yet though….

Thanks everyone. I will try the sponsor first. Interestingly, gaiters (thanks, Cervus. My spelling was a combo of gators, and gaiters ha) are part of the solution to getting rid of heat. When I arrive in hot Africa to hunt, I meet up with a PH. Cardio wise, I am in good shape. But these guys wear light shoes, canvas gaiters, short pants, a short sleeved shirt with open neck, and a breathable hat. All cool stuff. But us boys from the Rocky Mountains....we haven't seen the sun. My skin is white, and I need long pants and long sleeves. Combine boots, hot gaiters, and a sun-blocking, neck covering hat, and overheating on a long hike becomes the norm. This next hunt, I'm adding the light cool outfit to my equipment list (also working on the tan, scraped, scarred legs)...................FWB

One thing I've learned about African bush is gaitors and "leather" boot laces. Cloth laces are a thorn's best friend and the hand's worst enemy !

I replace cloth laces with nylon paracord/550 cord laces... they’re pretty good at not picking up burrs and thorns and are nearly indestructible as shoe laces

I have a pair of new with tags suede leather Rufiji gaiters for $35 shipping included for sale.

You won’t be disappointed with the Courteney gaiters ASC is offering. Personally I’d go with the laced version. Zippers seem like something that would fail at the worst possible time.

Bought mine in a gunshop in RSA, quite cheap, ask for kamaste ;)

Oiled canvas ones by Burke Wills, quiet as a mouse and don't pick up a single grass seed. Elasticised, no zip, no laces. The best.

Oh the horror!
Never had the problem in Africa or Texas, or CO, or OK,,,,,.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
