First Double Rifle!

Congrats with your new double! I’d love to see few more detail pics! :)

Thank you sir! Will do (y)
As promised.. Just remember I did mention it needs some TLC lol… Some screws are a little buggered. Case colors are about gone and in my uneducated opinion it definitely needs to be re-blacked.

Noticed something I hadn’t before.. Just behind the tang

Easier to tell in person but there’s a slight “bump” in the stock. Beginnings of a crack?

Very nice, full of character and in a great light double chambering. Fair chance once you start using it a trip to the gunsmith will be off the cards, you wont be able to part with it.

Congratulations...... and welcome in the club!

Before you change or invest or improve anything, check regulation of the barrels at the distance you want to use the rifle.

Should the regulation be ok, everything is fine.... and the double is your friend.

If not, there sometimes is a hard and long and expensive way to go.

Please keep us informed.

Thank you sir! I intend to do just that as soon as possible. Per the prior owner it is supposed to be an accurate rifle, we’ll see. It did come with a few boxes of 173 gr RWS ammunition that it is supposed to shoot well. I’ve also picked up 100 rounds of 173 grain S&B as well, they had been languishing in LGS purgatory for who knows how long. Muzzle and bores look great for what it’s worth.

Congratz on your new purchase. The 7x65 is a nice round. Simson Makes a nice double.

100 meters/yard is a good distance for a rifle like this.

Have a firm rest.

Please keep in mind, always to shoot right barrel first and than left, and always the same time interval.

5-7 seconds between the two shots is ok.

Every pair of shots has to come from cold barrels.

Do not rely on one pair of shots, 3 pairs/six shot will give you a realistic group.

Good luck

Thank you for the advice!

Very nice acquisition you have there. It will look great restored or left as is and would make a great PG, deer and elk rifle.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
