so i have herd suggestions to have your trophies dipped and packed then shipped back to the states and you can spread your taxidermy work spread out. well what do you do with the packed trophies until you have them mounted?

They will have to be stored at your taxidermist. ie. An approved facility.

There are issues with storing hides for any long period of time.

I'd suggest you do a search of the word "dip" and restrict it to "thread titles" and you will find this information. It has been asked before. :)

Go talk with who is going to do the work. See if they are willing to hold your stuff and mount them as you say over the time period. They may send them out to get tanned and store them or may ask you to store them after being tanned. Either way you want them tanned shortly after you get them home from dip/pack.

Researching this issue myself.

i mean if there is a way to hunt, then spread the thousands it may take to get mount work done, that may be a game changer for me...

It could be for a lot of people.
I have found that it takes some time to get the trophies processed at the Outfitter, then the process of D&P and export and shipping. That timeline may be too short to really spread it out, but it does a little bit.

The other thread on tanning and storage and Dennis' comments will be informative on the subject.

As Bill noted, talk to your taxidermist and see what they think.

Hi PaulB. Would you be interested in another WJ Jeffery .450/.400 NE 3". It's an extractor model and in superb condition, cased as well. Made in 1908. The rifle is here in Texas.
