Delta gouges again

Because of course they do.

Emirates is a UA partner, Qatar is an AA partner. If you have the PTO to burn, the extra day+ going and coming is worth it to me. Eff Delta and double eff UA.

I'd rather get corn-holed by The Hedgehog wearing a 50 grit sandpaper condom than fly either of the US carriers.

You'll
never catch me on Qatar again. I'm not going to pay the extra for business so I fly cattle class. Their planes are 100% full and you're likely to get your seat assignments changed.

I'll pay the extra fees for Delta, there isn't a airline out their who won't hose their passengers.

Yep. Comfort + and lower on Delta only 1 checked free bag now. Been researching flights for next year. Also prices seem higher for Premium Select. Also UA is higher seems on Premium. But I will pay it like other do. I can’t do coach and won’t do the long layovers and extra days travel.

Nothing but great experiences on Qatar. I do fly business.

On-time departures and not forgetting my guns is kinda important to me. Delta and UA don't have a stellar reputation for either of those.

Ya pays yer money ya takes yer chances.

Just flew to joberg and home from Cape Town with Delta and was 100% happy with the experience. Great flights both way in premium plus seats. That is saying alot because I am 6ft 6. Hard to keep me comfortable for 16 hours. Only complaint is there Coke only soft drink selection.

Yep but I will say we purchased the cheapest flight I have ever gotten to SA, dating back to 2007, this year. Econ was $1,500. Same dates on Emirates were $1,900.

@JimP - your Right and it’s an Unfortunate reality that ALL Airlines do Not care about their Customers, No such thing as “customer service” — because they don’t need to treat customers well….Customers have very few options when flying. We usually make our decisions based on 1). What flights are most convenient 2). followed by price. Airlines can (and Do) treat customers poorly, charge as much as they can (it is a Business after all and Must make a profit). What’s the solution? - Private Jet?if you can afford it, get 8-10 Hunters together, spend $10,000-$15,000 more per person and live it up, even take a fewer trophies to off set the costs (I’m only 1/2 kidding). Or, make friends with a Billionaire - that also likes to Hunt (how easy is that?)

@JimP - well forget my “Dumb” idea to rent a Private Jet to fly to Africa, my cost estimates were Way Off: A Gulfstream 550 New York to JoBerg would be over $200,000 “Each Way”…..don’t know what I was thinking?? My Plan “B” seems like the better option (Make Friends with a Billionaire that Hunts)

If paying close attention to airline MO for flights and flight changes, it appears they are continually running their schedules through an algorithm (now called AI) to maximize profit, no matter the disruption to the individual traveler. They have been doing this for a few years. They all do it. Qatar did it to my flights this year. Qatar eliminated a flight I had purchased tickets for. That caused an itinerary change of two days. I had to rebook hotels, transportation and connecting flights after the chain reaction— a real time consuming PITA for me and others involved. So much for those kissing the ass of Qatar Air. And to spread the criticism around in the spirit of fairness, Alaska Air has been one of the worst US carriers for continually jacking around flights and causing travel headaches. Although not commonly used by many here, in my experience Philippine Air and their customer reps have been very helpful in sorting through connection issues.

The only way to plan airline travel and stay sane today is to pre-plan and have alternative B or even C plans ready to go to accommodate cancelled flights or changed flight times. Avoid booking connecting flights between non-affiliated airlines… stay with those with alliance reciprocity for any multi-airline, multi-stop trip. Good luck and as Bugs says, “Bon voyagee!”

Flew Emirates business out of Dulles relatively cheap and if they or Qatar had direct flights to Joburg, both Delta and United's flights to Tambo would be history.
Edit: Researched United flights to Joberg and from Dulles with a layover in Newark was cheaper than Newark to Joburg direct. Go figure.
