I have a cz 550 in 416 rigby that I am having problems with scopes. I am using warne quick detachable medium rings. With 2 different leupold scopes the rifle shoots significantly low. The scopes run out of vertical adjustment. Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions?

I had a CZ550 375H&H with a Leupold VX-3 1.5-5x20 in Warne QD low rings and it zeroed quite easily. The low rings were made possible by having the bolt handle straightened as part of the AHR #2 upgrade. Not sure if you could get away doing this without altering the bolt handle. Clearance between the bolt handle and ocular housing was quite tight. And if my hand wasn't positioned correctly, the scope would take a chunk out of my thumb meat. Ask me how I know. I ran the bolt with the palm of my hand, not my fingers.

Thanks. My 375 cz550 presented no problems with a weaver grand slam 2 to 8x scope and warne medium rings. I'm worried my receiver is out of true or I don't get how the leupold zero stop dial system works.

There could easily be a difference between the scope you have and the one I was running.

Have you given any thought to putting a RDO optic on it? I believe AHR (now Matrix) is still offering a QD rig that adapts the CZ dovetail to a RMR. Or my favorite...a custom mount that @DWB has on his ZKK602 450RIGBY with an AimPoint H1. That setup may even have lower 1/3 co-witness with the irons.

Are the two rings the same? If yes, you might try switching them. Also, since you have your elevation cranked all the way up (which means the horizontal cross hair is all the way down), you might crank it the other way, counting the turns. Once you do this, crank it back half way so that it is centered. Start your bore sighting from this point.

I had a BAR with a similar problem, shooting low and no more scope adjustment. I took the scope off and then put 2 layers of black electric tape on the bottom half of the rear ring. Essentially shimming it. Raising the rear of the scope causes the cross hairs to move lower, towards the current low POI. Doing this will help raise the POI. Will it be enough, try it and find out.

I think I may have found part of the problem. When I took the top zero stop dial off I found more vertical adjustment. I hope it is adequate. When the dial is on it only allows just under one revolution of adjustment.

I really don't see the need for custom dials on a 1.5 to 5x scope. It solves a problem I don't have.

I'll take the Vortex scope cover you have listed in the Pay it Forward thread.
