Looking for a leather Smith to make some items from tanned Cape buffalo from last Safari. Have large amount of leftovers after 4 belts 4 wallets and a rifle case made by SA taxidermist. Anyone have a contact or know of someone?

I’m looking for the same thing...

I’ve got a custom boot maker lined up.. but looking for some other stuff to be made as well...

Me as well. Elephant and buffalo leather for knife sheaths, folios, etc. please advise.

What would you like? I can make just about anything you’d like.

I do knife scabbards, pillows, bags, purses, ottomans, some upholstery, gun cases, computer bags, and just about anything else we can dream up of. All of my stuff is hand stitched with kangaroo lace for strength and flexibility.

Not to take anything away from Gizmo. That's some pretty cool work! I can also build whatever. I'm not dead certain how to post pictures though. Give me a bit to figure it out.

Click on upload file, then go into your photo album and select the pics. After they upload click full image or thumbnail whichever you want to post.

I like it. Brass corners when finished?
I was thinking about using brass. I'm just kind of taking it one step at a time at this point. I'm still drawing the floral pattern for the top.

I really like your pack. I have been toying with the idea of building one like yours with axis deer accents. Did it go together pretty easy or was it a chore?

Mine are extremely labor intensive but that is because I do everything by hand. Everything is hand punched and laced as I don’t use a sewing machine. I use large kangaroo lace as I have found it is much stronger and more flexible than standard lace cut from cow hide. I have a silversmith that makes my conchos and hardware. All is sterling silver. The bag shown has a brass based concho with sterling silver elephant.

I also make them with hippo, ostrich, croc, fill in your exotic leather here....... accents. I actually also do matching sets of hunting pack, rifle case, and sling. The bag above was the first one I ever built and I use it all the time for everything from hunting to travel. I made a matching gun case and sling to go with it. I’ve done several sets like that over the last few years but anymore I make them on request and don’t keep the sets in stock as the expense of elephant and hippo type leathers has gotten way high and I don’t like sitting on them that long.
