There should be some clearance around the tang point of the action to prevent it cracking in this location. From the photo there does not appear to be sufficient clearance. That is assuming the recoil lug has been correctly bedded. How has the recoil lug been bedded? Can you gentleman tell me if a proper bedding job would have prevented this stock from cracking at the tang?
Do you mind passing that contact info/ web site along? We can pm if you prefer? ThanksMy CZ 458 win got the exact same crack after probably 50 rounds. I didn't want to worry about it so I just went ahead and ordered a nice exhibition grade stock for it and I'm having it properly finished, bedded, and installed by someone much more competent at that kind of task than I am and it's supposed to be done sometime later this month.
I got the exhibition grade bastogne walnut stock from here:Do you mind passing that contact info/ web site along? We can pm if you prefer? Thanks

Yes sir, it's atrocious. Paid for a professional job, turned out to be something todler could have done. That bedding job looks like badly applied devcon. There should be no voids in it.
Gumpy
It was alittle sloppy but I never pulled the action out of the stock till i saw the crack. Had another rifle at this smith and after two years received a box of parts back. I'll be composing an email with pictures this afternoon.I'd start over. That's the worst bedding job I've ever seen.
