Compressing Powder

H335 and w748 are the same as far as I know. Those powders are, I believe, just packaged differently.
Dr Ray,
I just looked up the powder speed chart in my Hornady reloading manual. H335 is up 18 clicks faster than W748? Close enough for me! Ha! Ha! Ha!

I wouldn't use Hornady data with Barnes copper bullets in that cartridge. The all-copper bullets are considerably longer, and reduce case capacity / increase pressure, if all else is kept the same. I also suggest that you use the hottest primer possible with compressed loads of ball powder, just because ball powder is more difficult to ignite to begin with, and compression makes ignition slightly more difficult. I like Federal magnum primers.

Be careful. Find the one 4064 ADI equivalent. Or use 4064.

Barnes has load data online for free.
Yes, I’ve looked at it. But no 748 mentioned? A lot of these companies display the powder they have a financial interest in. A subsidiary of the company? Nothing wrong with that, just not every powder available to use with a particular cartridge/load?

I think 748 was developed to be the best for the 308. I’ve used 748 in 222/22/250 and I think (mighty long time ago) 45/70.
Yes, I’ve used it for years reloading my .308 and .22-250. But, since being here on AH, I’ve been coerced into reloading BIGGER stuff! Ha! Ha!

I’m now into big cartridges now myself. My 338 is being neglected severely.
Just chatting to friend who up graded to 338 on my recommendation and now he’s going to get a 416 Remington magnum (what I call a non- wimps cartridge). [emoji15]
I’m being beginning to thinking the bad influence ! Oh woe is me![emoji23]

Oh I AM CAREFUL! Many eons ago, at age 18, I reloaded my .270 with 63gr of H4831. Too hot! Shot at a wild pig, got it but didn’t know it, as I only saw a large muzzle flash through the scope and the bolt locked up on Winchester M 70. Been careful ever since!

I love my .338 and probably wouldn’t NEED any caliber larger unless I make it to Africa for DG. But I really enjoy shooting the larger calibers and now want to enjoy reloading them? As for bad influence, I think it’s like a plague here on AH! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Great grammar I wrote
This friend does a lot of shooting so he’s interested in the 416 now. He used to shoot buffalo w a 308 but I suggested that one day he’ll get killed doing that.

For reference, I called hodgon and they told me h414 and W760 were the same powder and that I could interchange load data.
Yep. Hornady manual shows 760 just one click up from 414.

Off topic here, but I’ve researched the .416 Remington and .416 Rigby. BOTH are GREAT looking cartridges on paper. Don’t own or have shot either. Maybe availability of rifles and cartridges where one lives is the deciding factor? But, being the rebel and cheap SOB that I am, I’m still looking at the Taylor for .416 caliber if I ever buy one, because I can form the cases from my .458 brass, which I have plenty of. And if I were to take it to Africa or Texas hunting, I could purchase Norma Brass with the proper headstamp so I wouldn’t be hassled at the border. Ha! Ha! Ha!

You’re starting to sound like an accountant [emoji4][emoji48]

I forget the source but I recall that there are several Hornady powders that are the same as Winchester powders. HP38= W231, H414=W460, H450=W785 and a few others that slip my mind at the moment. I don't recall that H335 was the same as W748, but it wouldn't surprise me. Differences between the testing of the powders appears to be results of different lots.

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
