I have hunted mounatina reedbuck before but that trophy is lost so need to get another but I suspect next small one will be Klipspringer or the vaal rheebuck.

I love the look of all of them but the red and blue duikers are special...and the dik dik.

I passed on a lot of grysbok on my most recent hunt. I gave some thought to how many would wish for the opportunity. The tiny 10 is just something that’s never interested me. I passed on red duiker in Cameroon as well. A klipspringer is one of the few animals I will never take, I’d rather watch them. No objection to someone else hunting them though.

Wow, Different stoked for different folks!

How did yall come across the red duiker in CAM?

I assume yall weren’t calling as you weren’t interested in taking a jungle tiny

Two Safaris in, both in the Eastern Cape. In 2022, harvested Steenbok which began the obsession of the tiny ten. Also shot Common Duiker and Mountain Reedbuck. In 2024, shot Blue Duiker, Cape Grysbok, Klipspringer, Oribi, and Vaal Rhebuck. Used 300 Win Mag, 243, and 222. Plan to go to Natal in 25 or 26 for Red Duiker, Suni, and hopefully Sharpes Grysbok. A future trip to Namibia for the Damari Dik Dik should finish the 12. Have done full body mounts on all! Very unique species and very fun to hunt. Many different hunting techniques and concessions are usually needed.

I've heard that suni are tough to find in SA...thus the phrase, going loony looking for a suni. I've never seen one in the wild.

Can we see the taxidermy?

The grass was burnt so you would just see them while hunting other game. Particularly along rivers and areas with thicker brush.

There seems to be at least 2 lists of T10…one for South Africa and one for southern Africa. Peter Flack (who popularized the T10) clearly talks about this, although I have even had PHs disagree with me on this. Any thoughts on being more than one list?

Where were you hunting that you saw so many grysbok?

Not sure it would be that way every time (almost certain it wouldn’t) but dande in Zambezi valley. I saw them daily hunting other species.

I wasn't initially interested in the tiny ten, but when this little guy appeared in front of me, it was love at first sight. I now find T10 hunting both thrilling and rewarding. We spend hours tracking them down, and it’s a great excuse to explore different parts of Africa. Get two now.

It’s highly unlikely you’ll get a Sharpes in Natal but you might have someone with a pocket of them. I’ve heard of pockets in Limpopo an Mapumalanga

Also I strongly encourage you to shop pricing on the Suni. The trophy fee alone in RSA that I’ve been quoted (1/2 a dozen or more outfitters) exceed the cost of a 7 day dedicated Tiny 10 hunt in Mozambique with trophy fees for R. Duiker & Suni. You can also add free range Buffalo, Hippo, or Croc to a Mozambique hunt for not too much more. Just some food for thought.

Coutada 10 in Mozambique used to advertise a 10 day TT safari for give or take $10000. It included trophy fees for 4 tiny tens, pick out of red duiker, blue duiker, bush duiker, suni, oribi and sharpes grysbok. I saw multiple shooters of all except bush duiker and grysbok but I did see good ones of both. The pkg included hunting license and rifle permit. I don’t know if they still offer this but I want to try it . If I could afford it I would combine this offer with a 7 day buffalo pkg and spend 17 days in paradise.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
