Chicken Fried Steak!!!

Royal27, you are one lucky guy! CFS is awesome! I grew up in Texas eating it at every place I could try out.

Didn't realize you were painting your nails these days.:D

Just took some Elk steaks out of the freezer for dinner for tomorrow! Is that a hand held meat pounder? Looks amazing!

It is!

My uncle found one just like that in a New Mexico antique store and I liked it so much that I scoured the internet for one a couple of years ago. His still has wood between the teeth which both adds weight and keeps the meat from going up to far.

Mine still works great though and for small quantities at a time is awesome. Would hate to do an entire elk ham at once though. :A Banana Sad:

I use ground up crackers for my coating. Been a fav since I was a kid. Never forget when my boy and I were in RSA for his first hunt. They made gemsbuck schnitzel one night and my boy ate his portion, and theirs! Couldn't get enough of it.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Looks good I'd love to try it with Kudu & Oryx and you even have a Publix store!

Can we all just say yum yum! Did she make white gravy to go on top?
dont forget the mashed potatos with that delicious gravy.

My wife made chicken fried steak for dinner tonight. Fantastic!
She puts cayenne pepper in the dredge for a little kick.

This is my favorite American meal of all time . My favorite place is a really traditional diner in Texas , named “ Sodolak’s Country Inn “ . I make it a point to always dine there , when ever I am in America : Chicken fried steak , chipotle cream gravy , butter milk biscuits , mashed potatoes , collard greens ... And a nice blue berry waffles for dessert .

The one in Snook I assume?

Any good Texan can make a proper chicken fried..... if looking for some good old fashioned schnitzel... hit me up. I have some close friends here in NTX, that come from the old country of Germany...20 some odd generations of making it old school. Kubys & Elke’s Market Cafe. Tell them I sent you!

Why yes , Royal 27 ! I assume that you have been there ?

I actually haven't , but I've driven by and am familiar with it. The chicken fried bacon had quite the reputation as well.

Wife and I have eaten at Sodolaks many times. Places like that are getting harder to find nowadays, but they are still out there.

My dear friend Ponton and any Texican reader. You always see on tv shows people talking about collard greens could someone please explain to this Aussie what the Sam Hill they are. I know it ain't spinach attached to your shirt collar but that's it.
Bob

Not a texican but love the greens.

They are a member of the Brassica family. Sort of like cabbage...

Slow cooking. Add bacon or another smoked meat such as ham hocks. Vinegar and peppers to flavor...

Once they're cooked, they look like spinach, but they have their own flavor. Cooked spinach, cabbage, collards are all similar with different flavors and depending on spices.

Nice Report! Im about to pull the trigger on booking the LDE with Patrick. I have been talking about it with him for about 3 yrs now. Romain hit me up the other day with an offer I can't refuse for 2027.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.
