Change of plans anyone?

From reading news reports from RSA, I am thinking they will ban foreign travelers until 2021.[

From what I read last night, foreign travelers are banned until at least 2021. I was supposed to be going in 4 weeks but that’s a no starter. Also have taxidermy that is held up somewhere that got caught in the lock down.

Wow havn't seen that yet! I hope its not true, I'm still holding out hope for this August!

My take on this: Nobody is flying anywhere til near the end of the year and even then there will be restrictions. Batten down and reschedule for next year. It's a mess so live with it.

I was supposed to leave June 10th for 14 day Lioness and Buff Bull/cow combo. Delta canceled flights about 2 weeks ago. PH and I will discuss 2021 dates when travel bans are lifted. When ever that is. I will not cancel the hunt and just hope we can all travel by May 2021.

Plan was to fly out of Rapid City next Wednesday May 20 for 10 day hunt in the Eastern Cape. We have rebooked for June 2021. Got the refund ok from Delta, but nothing yet for the Airlink flight from Joburg to and from East London.

I think you might have to follow up with your credit card company on that one. SAA etc. are not responding.

This just plain sucks! I too rescheduled my hunt to SA. Keeping my hopes up I can fly to Sonora in December with two other members for desert mule deer hunt.

I wonder if we will be able to bypass RSA and go into Zim/Bots/Namibia etc. via Europe or the Middle East. The way Ramphosa is acting it looks like RSA is off the table for some time to come.

My hunt is in August 1-18 at Zim. Originally I had tickets to go through J'Burg as I was also going to add a few days with the GF at Victoria Falls after the hunt.

IF Zim opens and Emirates flies then I will re-route through Emirates as they fly to Harare. Change vacation plans so GF meets me at Dubai after the hunt.

Of course, everything is unknown, but Emirates is opening some routes up in June. Zim is also supposed to announce some sort of a plan in a few days.

But can we even fly international right now?

Even if flights are available, can one get into the country(ies)? If so, are the areas open? Too many variables to take a chance on getting stuck somewhere.

My trip to Namibia leaving June 13, 2020 has been canceled. Thought about August 2020 and did not have faith that travel would be open, so I am rebooking for June 2021. This has to be tough on the outfitters and ranch owners.

Still waiting for something official from AC and Ethiopian for my SA safari 25 June-7 Aug this summer. My guess is I am delaying, man this sucks, nail biting year wait already, waiting a second year ?? Dam.

Cancelled a non-hunting vacation to Wyoming in September. The wife has been offered a pretty good early retirement package from her work, they are hemorrhaging money right now due to lost business. If she takes it I may look at retiring a bit earlier than planned also but that will make a drastic impact on future hunting plans. I was planning to book a Mozambique hunt for next year but am now looking at a bear hunt instead. :(

In Mozambique, ANAC announced that will keep selling hunting tags and issuing hunting license and pH cards so it means that will be possible to hunt in Mozambique from mid/end of June. South Africa announced that will open the borders next month... So it means that will be possible to travel from Jburg Airport ️

This is news that will interest many of us here. Where did you read/hear this? I have not seen anything on this yet.

I from Mozambique, and I work directly with ANAC as I provide services for safari companies in Mozambique (tags, hunting cards, rifle permits etc)

That's interesting, now how about foreigners, visiting, driving around and hunting within SA? I read today that level 3 probably will start June 01, but that still leaves level 2 then 1 before 26 when I am scheduled to fly. Canadian office is not even entertaining exit gun permits, got the OMG Covid response, from our RCMP on PAL renewal I got not currently working/doing and not sure when commencing again, they did take immediate payment though?? Outfitter/PH and I are "waiting", then a last minute holy shit or a postponement. Dam either way.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.
