Ceiling height

I know that you can not really do a Kudu with a shoulder mount but what about Sable or Nyala In a room with 8’ ceilings? I’m out of room for floor pedestals am I’m limited by my ceiling heights. Thanks for any input.

Here's mine with a 7 foot ceiling. The kudu and gemsbok are 6" off of the floor, since this picture was taken I added a blue Wildebeest a little higher just below the black one and a warthog at the top.

Little kids love it.

One option is a full sneak pose. I have an eastern cape kudu in this pose and is one of my favorite mounts.

A kudu shoulder mount can be done with 6.5 feet walls providing the head is angled slightly naturally forward.

My other kudu the shoulder mount the head is a bit more of an alert position and at a slight (kudu's) right cant. I had to hang it lower on the wall and added a 1/2 inch plywood spacer to keep the right horn tip from touching the ceiling and wall the kudu was hung on.

I'm hoping the new trophy room with 9 feet walls and vaulted ceiling will allow for more room and space for my eland and Leche.

A sable with 8 feet walls should be doable with the head straight as if naturally walking.

Nyala under 8 foot ceiling no problem. His eyes are just an inch higher than mine and I stand almost 6’2

Good point, Full Range Hanging Systems has a corner wall hanging bracket that works pretty well.

I’ll check them out and i was planning on possibly moving some whitetail mounts to a corner

Enjoy your mounts wherever you can hang them and when you build someday go with a 12’ minimum.
