Castle Lite

Kingfisher In India is my favorite foreign beer followed by Castle Lite.

I appreciate my taste in beer, or by the estimation of many - total and complete lack thereof, is not typical. I can drink (get then down is more appropriate) most any beer, but quite often get the wrinkled nose, bitter beer flick of the tongue action going. Castle Lite, on the other hand, nothing bitter or hard to swallow about it, not even a hint. Goes down way to easily. As I mentioned earlier, my favorite beer on Mother Earth, at least to date.

So, I went out looking today (being retired is indeed, absolutely wonderful!) No Keystone Light in New England, at least none at the package stores I went to. No Grolsch, with a fancy opening device either. I remembered a beer I liked from years ago, Kokanae (spelling?), from Canada. Nope, none of that either. So I settled for some Sam Adams Light, Yingling Lite, Newcastle brown, and some Molson Golden. I have tried, and like, the Newcastle and Molson Golden. We shall see about the Sam Adams and Yingling. I just want a cold beer, that is refreshing, after a few hours in the sun and humidity (humidity, yuck! - I don't know how y'all from the south deal with that humidity s*#^!)

oh well, might as well join in,Oranjeboom, from holland, found only at trader joes, great with food, bye itself, anyway you can drink it,the colder the better,16 ozs.A PINT.

You sound like me wishing for a XXXX from Australia. There is little chance of any and if you did find it then it would likely be old and taste bad. Some flavors are only found where they are.
Philip

Philip is right on about regional beer. I loved several of the beers we had in Italy but when purchased in the states they were nasty!
My brother came back from Jamaica years ago and said you've got to try redstripe, when we got it here not so good. He said it was nothing
like what it was there. I guess Beer and boatrides dont mix, lol:D Barman:

Castle lite?

Hmm, 4%, 30Kcal/100ml. 17IBU. Cheap to produce american style light lager, probably using 15-25% rice or maize, tetra hop and with colder than average lagering (almost certainly a token amount at best), low bitterness and 'ice cold refreshment' cues.

Keystone Lite is almost bang on identical in all aspects (4.2%, 28Kcal, 15IBU) and is likely to be similar in profile and colour as well. Coors Light is aligned on the calories and ABV and also has the 'ice cold refreshment' brand cues going on, which may be a factor. Bitterness is marginally lower though.

I'd try Keystone. For additional authenticity, leave it in the airing cupboard for a week to replicate the aging during transport and then drink it in the sun to build up some light strike. I'd expect that the off flavours from that will contribute more to the profile than anything the brewer did...

A normal Castle for me, thanks....

Or a Carling Black Label
While Castle Light is drinkable I much preferred the Carlings.

Of course they all taste good when you are in a bush bar celebrating after taking a beautiful zebra stallion with bow and arrow. [emoji16]

I tried a Grolsch in Australia, nearly 30 years ago . i remember deciding i wasn't go to try it again. Ive tried plenty of good beers.

I want to have a beer and Biltong in South Africa with my PH. Oh thats' right im going to in 3 months and some days time. Cant wait since ive been waiting my whole life !

I went on a business trip to Luanda, Angola last year. Castle is usually widely available, but wasn't available at the hotel bar. Super Bock, from Portugal, is a good option.

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
