Carl Gustaf 1896 Swedish Mauser

CJW, The trick is to look for one that has been sporterized in some manner. A good rifle in Military guise is selling for $850 or better. As a sporter they go for $350 - $400. If possible, try to find one with a 24" barrel rather than a 22 incher. You get a scooch more velocity out of the longer barrel. My first Swede had a 22" barrel, its' accuracy is what convinced me to get more of them.

Art I hear the Swede government called you to see if you have some spare 38s and 96s to help them arm themselves against Russia as they know you have a few and love them.

Love my Swedes. My first rifle was a Christmas present from my parents: Ruger M77 Mk.II in 6.5x55 Swedish. Obviously, my dad handloaded and loved this cartridge. My wife has my dad's rifle he was building with friend before he passed. He gave it her on his deathbed. It's a gorgeous sporter build from a M/96 barreled action. I've yet to shoot a Swede that doesn't shoot well.

two of my favorite 6.5x55 rifles, a CZ 550(lower photo) and a 1944 md 38. the CZ 550 i load for long range hunting(140-2900 fps) and the md 38 i load for target(140-2500 fps)

N-560 for my CZ 550(deer size animals to 400 yrds) with the 139-140 gr bullets, worked up useing a crony to check fps. on the md 38(service matches) i use imr 4350 and h-4831 with the 139-140 gr bullets as the m-38 is not near as strong as the CZ i keep the fps alot lower.
