Personally, I use a 12 gauge pump with 00 bucksot and slugs with a flahlight attached.

How about you?

edit, assuming you're hunting from a tent base. May be they don't use tents in Africa anymore, not sure.....

When hunting in the states I take my side arm.....the Tarus Judge which fires the 45 Colt or the 410 shotgun shell.

Sorry didn't get the photo in right! The Judge! Great for bears and snakes!

At home (Wisconsin), I carry a Browning Buckmark .22 for csmp food and my . 44 for bears. When in South Texas, its a Dan Wesson .44mag- things can get a little hairy with two legged varmints there.

To bad our our small arms laws are so restricted in Canada. I like revolvers and pistols.

Thanks for the replies.

Suppressed .22lr bolt action running subsonic 40gr. Puts plenty of rabbits over the BBQ

We are depressingly low on big predators :(
However, if we weren't, 45-70 lever gun or big double rifle.
I'd rather carry more than I need than not enough but hey, I have zero experience dealing with grumpy Grizzlies!

Mostly just carry a sidearm - short-barreled Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Mag. It's pretty handy to have around and allows me to have both hands free when I'm working or riding. If I'm really thinking I might need it, I carry an old Winchester 94.

Good point on having hands free.... Down by the river as an example.

Where we are in Mozambique, rarely will there not be a 458 or 375 in arms reach.

I couldn't resist the running shoes.

Thanks Witold. Sometimes running shoes are safer around camp...:A Camping::A Outta:

If I were in a tent camp in the wilds of NA I think a lever action 45-70 or a smooth bore 12ga with slugs. If africa, it would be the gun I brought

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.
