I am writing this from Africa Sky guest house in JoBurg, one of our favorite spots. We are off to Maun in the morning for a plains game hunt with friends who ranch in the area. This is my first African hunting trip not in pursuit of buffalo. I’m going to try to make up for it with a true tracking hunt for eland in the Kalahari.

I really appreciate all the recent posts detailing issues with firearms on DL 200. Thankfully, my cases arrived without issue.

To improve my odds I:
- notified Delta in advance that I was traveling with firearms.
- used TSA locks in all four holes on my pelican case.
- had backup standard locks in the event exception was taken to the TSA locks.
- tracked my luggage on the delta app for confirmation that it was on the plane.
- used Gracy Travel’s VIP service for planeside meet and greet, immigration expediting, and firearms permitting.

No guarantees, but this worked for me. This was the first time for the backup locks, but others experience posted on AH convinced me it was a good idea.

More to come!

Wab ,
how does it work in the Kalahari ?
Hunting prohibited since five, six years in Botswana.
Only on privat Game Ranches, am I correct ?

Yes have a great hunt!

Hi Foxi. You are correct about no hunting on government land. Private farms and ranches can and are being hunted on. There are signs that the government is rethinking their policy.....
Bruce

Good luck and looking forward to the report!

I have an unfired T rex 577 if anyone is interested in acquiring it . Absolutely spotless, flawless and well kept . It's rare as it gets . Mouth watering ? Let me know if you feel like making an offer .
