If the intent is to get Hollywood quiet so that you can make follow up shots on a sounder, even though the R8 is super fast to cycle, I’m not sure it’s fast enough…
While your shots will be quiet the impact of those 220gr subsonics on the pig creates quite the “thud” and if you’re within reliable killing range with subsonics the pigs are definitely going to hear you cycling the action as well…
Not saying do t do it… a suppressed subsonic 300blk R8 would probably be a lot of fun..
Just saying if you’re wanting to get 2-3 additional shots on a sounder before they scramble, a 16”, fairly heavy (reduce muzzle flip to next to nothing) 300 blk AR or other reliable MSR (I’ve got a buddy with a 300blk 16” SCAR thst is a pig killing machine) is the way to go…
My primary pig gun is an AR10 308 suppressed with a thermal…it’s far from Hollywood quiet.. it’s at best just “hearing safe”.. but it is flat out deadly on even the biggest boars… but… try as I may, at best I’m getting 2 accurate shots on a sounder before they’re scrambling… anything more than that is a bit of a spray and pray..
My backup is a 16” AR15 in 300blk that has a LVPO and a simple green light mounted on it.. it is also suppressed… its actually a much more fun gun to shoot.. especially with subsonics.. I may start using it more… the limitation is where I e been hunting lately the blind where pigs most often come to the feeder is a bit long even for SuperSonics in a 300blk … it’s about 140 to the feeder… with subsonics I’d have to rainbow them in…
