Seems like a Blaser conversation week!

I blame Eurooptic for offering good deals!

Currently have a standard sporting stock/receiver with:
375
300WM
30'06
7x57

Used the '06, suppressed, for plains game last year and loved it.

Now I think it is time to breed them and watch them multiply.

Would have liked to found a good buy on a 9.3x62 and 22 LR barrels but not much happening right now.

Thought about the 375 and the 416 Rem with the Selous barrels.

Great prices being offered by EO.

The 375 will gain weight over my current rifle, all in the front.

I am concerned that the 416, without a kick stop is going to be a handful.

Currently my 416 is a PW synthetic in Rigby. Reasonably heavy rifle and still packs a pretty good punch..

Like the idea of the new stock with the adjustable height cheekpiece, a lot!

I know, I know....buy one of each! :)

9.3 is overlapped by your 375 barrel. 416 is good but the one you would get the most use out of by far is the 22 rimfire conversion. I use mine on every range visit to lock in good shooting form and muscle memory.

Are we allowed to talk about the R93? Like it better than the R8. Personal preference. 11 barrels and three rifles.
I can’t help myself…..

I have two 10,3x68 RWS barrels for my R8. I'd sell you one when I get back to America next year if you want something esoteric to feed.

The 416 kicks in an r8. There isn't a way around it, without a ton of weight or a big nasty muzzle brake.

Not sure the point of having a 7x57, 30-06 and 300 Win.

My take on the r8's.

223/222 don't really work very well.

22Lr works ok, but I don't see the value in it. As it operates in a different way than the normal barrels.

Short actions are fine.

Long actions are fine to a point.

338 Lapua kind of works, I had one of those for a few years. Shot really well, but I never enjoyed it.

I have an 8x57, 6.5 CM, and the two 10,3x68 RWS barrels currently. I keep moving them around.

I am going to do a 300 Weatherby or 7mm PRC at some point.

Don’t let a “good deal” talk you into a rifle you’ll hate to shoot. The .416 Rem without KickStop is that rifle. The Selous .375 is a solution in search of a problem for you. Get the stock. Wait for the 9.3x62 and .22 LR. Your shoulder and your wallet will thank you.

I have an R8 Steel receiver and a 416 REM Selous barrel without a kick stop and it is very manageable.

And I know where you got it! ;)

I had a 375H&H Selous barrel and sold it because it's too heavy for the cartridge being shot. My 375 weighs 7.75 lbs as a bare rifle and is very comfortable to shoot.

If you want the 416RM, get the steel receiver (PH stock) and you should be good. If you want to move up to the 458LOTT, add the kickstop to the butt stock.

I have an R93 with 243, 308, 6.5 x 57, 7 x 64 & 300WM, I also had .22 conversion kit but sold and regretted it.

After getting 2-3 barrels, everyone should be getting the rimfire conversion kit. It’s a no brainer.

Nothing better to train on than your own rifle. Fit, weight, LOP, and trigger pull all the same in most cases.

My apologies for any grief that I may have caused you. I now have a pit in my stomach and I'm really pissed off and embarrassed. I feel that I have been made a fool of.

Please accept my apology.

Hello,
I might be able to help you out depending on how many you need. I could probably spare 50-75 .285g A-Frames. They are factory pulls that look like new. Let me know if you are still looking,
Thanks,
Gary

Nice Report! Im about to pull the trigger on booking the LDE with Patrick. I have been talking about it with him for about 3 yrs now. Romain hit me up the other day with an offer I can't refuse for 2027.
