Hallgeir, is that a Norwegian elkhound? They are a handsome dog!

Looks like some good hunting. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
I have been to Norway several times and the photo’s of the Elg at the beginning are great. One of my relatives on my wife’s side is/was in charge of removing them from the road “in case of a road kill” so they would not be seen by tourists.
I wish that would be done here in the US.
Are the dogs ripping out the fur? It looks like they are trying to pluck it?
Some incredible critters. Envious of the Reindeer!
This is amazing.
Thank you for sharing.
Very common in Europe - the beast is the dogs animal until the handler calls it away. The dogs are getting their teeth in, pulling out fur, trying to rip it apart, etc. Its all about creating a drive for the dog and should the animal be wounded the dog will get hold of it and take it down.
I was shown a video of the guy I go to Germany with of his dog hanging onto a wounded red stags neck with its teeth and being carried along - eventually the stag tired and the dog brought it down and the stag was dispatched with a follow up shot.
Interesting. Thanks. I figured it might be about training.
Thanks for sharing the photos!
