All the watch threads have given me the urge to treat myself to a quality watch as an added bonus I think I can make an argument for writing one off as a navigational aid for marine use. It worked for quality binoculars and a really nice compass anyway so it’s worth a shot.

So that being said what would you gentleman recommend in the 1000-2000$ price range. Must be waterproof, mechanical winding , durable enough to stand up to use on the a commercial fishing boat. Repairable when I eventually break it and understated.
gold watches are right up there with pearl revolver grips hundred spoke rims in my opinion.

Doxa, IMO hands down the best value in the watch world.

Here is a great example:

Apple Watch, or even Garmin. Not mechanical, of course, but solid.

Funny you should mention them I was actually looking at a shark hunt last night after reading the Rolex thread

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Christopher Ward

Garmin Epix.

Check available software.

I'd recommend one of the Casio Mudmaster models. Very durable though solar powered rather than mechanical. I like mine. And under $1,000.

If it won't, I've never seen one that would. It is at least on par with a GSAR or a Kobold.

To get tougher than that, you are going to have to go with a digital display G-Shock, but I would rather carry around a sundial.

Not the greatest environment for electronics

My top three would be a used but mint condition Tag Heuer Aquaracer, Seiko Luxe Diver, or a used but mint Squale GMT Ceramic… Here are three nice examples!

Breitling Superocean. I have one and I've abused the crap out of and still going strong. Like anything else, they've gone up in price considerably. I like mine.

A quality Seiko will last you the rest of your life, and look good while doing it.

That is a different issue entirely. I have no idea.

What would a used Tudor set you back in the USA??

On my end it come up in GBP. Might be over budget but not by much and well worth it. Back in 2002 I got myself an Omega seamaster pro automatic. It served with me in the Army and still goes to work with me everyday

Sir, I will gladly take that 16 gauge off your hands. I was waiting for your Winchesters but I'm a sucker for a 16 ga.

I bought a great deal of the brass he had for sale, plus I already had many hundred rounds.

How much brass are you looking for?
