Anybody removed the iron sights from a Blaser R8 barrel?

How much trouble is it shipping a barrel from Canada? Probably not as difficult as a complete rifle.

Yeah, gun parts is the same as guns to the US. Oddly enough, Canada is much more chill about gun parts and components coming in or going out-- all the approvals and hassle is on the US side.

While I recognize the value in iron sights for many types of hunting I just don't see myself needing or using them in the foreseeable future. Plus, I always seem to get that front sight hung up on something when I'm trying to move quickly.

I don't have a good gunsmith nearby so I'd like to do this myself if possible/prudent.

Thanks for any advice, Allan
Have you considered a cover similar to a rubber sleeve? It's something to keep it from binding up in your gun slip but can be removed when needed. A lot easier than adding/removing iron sights. I wish all my R8 barrels had open sights. Good luck!

What would a new gun rack cost you? That proprietary finish that makes that rifle more durable than stainless isn't going to react to barrel butchery well.
