A favor for a fellow hunter

Over the past several weeks we have been given an insight into the "Glory Days" of hunting in India by a PH who has "been there and done that." In several of his posts Kawshik Rahman has stated that he wanted to shoot a 460 Weatherby Magnum. But sadly never had the opportunity. I think that during his next visit to the U. S. the collective "we" can make that happen. At some time during his visit Kawshik is going to be visiting Hoss Delgado and his grandfather. If someone that owns a 460 Weatherby Mag and a few rounds of ammo to go along with it would be willing "loan" said hardware for this purpose, I'd be willing to pay the shipping charges both ways if that is an issue. Yea, I realize that are a few "hurdles that have to be jumped" but I believe it can be done!!

Great idea Art! Sorry I don’t own, nor do I know anyone who owns a 460 Weatherby. But I’ll do a little research with friends.
Maybe there is a range/gun shop combo close to Hoss that has loaners or rentals?

Not sure why anyone would want to pull the trigger on one of those!

This is a GREAT gesture of fellow hunters sharing a dream and goodwill! I hope this will happen and I hope someone will video the shooting and share it here on AH.

I don’t own one but have shot one and found the break on it to be quite effective....earth shatteringly loud but quite effective.

Old Hoss Delgado has got this one covered ! The PH is an old family friend and my grand dad was his client in the '60s My pal owns a Weatherby Mark V and the PH will get to shoot it.
This was the one cal during that PH's career which existed during his time , but he did not get to try it.
He has no idea how lucky he was not to fire it . Being how sensible he is , he will probably fire it once or twice and decide that it is a BEAST

Otherwise, all of these great, historical first hand accounts of hunting in Africa, India, etc., will die here on AH threads as time goes by. All of the information on the different threads/posts that have been provided here on AH, should be combined as a memory guide to creating a book/books. The historical side of this is too valuable for any readers/enthusiasts here on AH or elsewhere to let slip away.

Guys , the thing about Mr. Rahman is this : There are many hunters who think of themselves as too valuable . With Mr. Rahman , he has the opposite problem. He doesn't think that he's valuable at all. When we were talking about his favorite hunting writers , he only mentioned Teddy Roosevelt , Jim Corbett , FC Sealous and Samuel Baker . Books which were available in his childhood . He doesn't fully realize how valuable these accounts are these days and is largely indifferent to them . We gotta remember that he comes from a time and place where a PH got hanged , just cause some retarded client hunter tried to knock off a tiger with a .220 Swift M70 and got killed , as a result. Based on my research ( and l tend to do a lot ) , this was very common at the time and PHs weren't respected the way they are today . He absolutely refuses to talk badly about his former clients ( or really anybody for that matter ) and defends them even after they are long dead. He's an extremely modest guy who doesn't seem to realize how valued he is
PS: shouldn't we be worried that he might read this ? He does browse this section of the forums sometimes too

This is the most heart warming post from a fellow hunter which l have ever seen in fifty years.
Shootist43 , l have no words to describe my thoughts. The fact that you would be willing to spend a quantity of money for me just so that l can satisfy my thrill for shooting a magnum .460 by Weatherby , speaks a great deal about what kind of a gentleman you are. You are certainly an excellent hunter , you are even better as a human being. I have never had anyone even think about doing something like this for me. But please , do not take the trouble as l will be embarrassed.
If anyone actually wants to do anything that will make me happy , then fight. Even in a small way , people will be making a difference.
Fight against the anti hunting movements and vegetarian movements which have pervaded our society and spreading false news without any clues of real conservation. I watched how it was all slowly taken away from us and l do not wish any hunter to ever suffer the way we did. Do not let Africa ever end up like India. I hope that hunting remains not only as the art which we enjoy so much , but as the art which our future generations can keep enjoying forever.
That will make me most happy.
I also would like to thank everyone for their support of me in the past few weeks. I am privileged to be a member and contributor here. And l hope to always be.
After the 1972 ban on hunting in India , l did not get to enjoy a beef steak for seven years until l went to Bangladesh and ate a tenderloin of beef at Sheraton hotel. That was how bad the effect was on us. Never let the rest of the world end up like this.

Kawshik, your expressed embarrassment was not unanticipated. From your writings of the past few weeks it is easy to see that you are by nature a "humble" man giving credit to others and very little to yourself. At the same time however you are in our i.e. AH members' perspective a valuable resource, capable of providing an insight into hunting in India that was previously unattainable. This gesture from my viewpoint was just a way of saying thank you.

I really appreciate you acquiring that magnum .460 from Weatherby for me . Just two cartridges will make me very content. You see , during my time the magnum .460 was talked about by quite a few hunters and l always hoped that a client would bring one to Darjeeling so that l can try it , but unfortunately they never did. When more knowledgeable members that l say that the recoil is unpleasant , l believe them and definitely would not use one for hunting. However , l suppose suppose l still have that childish desire to try one out.
On a related subject , clients must never be referred to , as retarded. They must be respected even if you do not agree with everything they say. His foolish actions led to Rongon getting hanged. However , the poor man lost his life as well and we should always respect the deceased.
PS : Could you please send me a picture of the diagram of the Kynoch Lethal Ball cartridge ? It will be very useful for tonight's article. And the pictures of Dr. Kumar’s entire article , please ?
