Before my wife and I leave for the East Cape to chase Nyala with Marius of KMG.

I last hunted Namibia and although I have been to R.S.A. on business a few times I have not hunted there yet. And it will be my wife's first time on the dark continent.

Besides Nyala I am targeting Bushbuck, Blue WB, Blesbok & Mtn Reedbuck. If we see a monster Impala or Warthog or a Duiker I will be giving them consideration as well.

The custom Remington 700 7mm-08 is shooting sub-MOA 200 yard groups when I do my job so hopefully I can quickly get accustomed to the standing sticks since all I have is the short ones to practice with. I think I will be alright after I settle into the hunt. Taking a .300 Wby for the BWB and as a backup gun and it too is dialed in at 200 yards but not quite as tight.

I won't be able to sleep until I get the first animal on the ground.

Good luck with your list, its a good one.

I saw your other thread. If you can, add a couple of days and fly to Cape Town and check it out.
If you can add more time, drive. It is gorgeous countryside.

Shoot straight.

Unfortunately we are squeezed for time this trip and don't have the extra days for the side jaunt to Capetown.

I guess the good news is that when my wife starts sampling S.A. Wines it will be my excuse to come back...but I won't be able to go to R.S.A. again without going to Capetown and the wine farms FIRST THING!

That not such a bad trade-off. have fun on your Safari. Best wishes.

I have alittle more than 9 days but August will be here before I know it.

Fun is to be had for sure. Find your balance point in the sticks, when they go down the flow will come natural.

Thats not a bad thing to do. We had 4 nights in Cape Town after we hunted with Marius. 2 nights in Cape Town and 2 nights in Franschoek (the gourmet capital in SA) just 1,5 hours outside CT. Lots of good food and wine to a really good price compared to Norway:)

Good Luck on trip! I will thinking of you.

Thanks to everybody for all the well wishes! Hopefully I shoot straight and the hunting gods make the game appear as planned!

Report will be posted in early June when we return.

Good luck and we will all be patiently waiting for your report and pics!

I am hopeful we will have some video too as my wife will be playing amateur hunting videographer on some of the forays into the bush!

I know how you feel. I leave in six days and can hardly stand it!

I am very much looking forward to your report.
Hope you will have a great time! :)

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
Thanks,

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
