One other thing to consider is the cost to those who don't have mighty dollars. Maybe this was one of those hunts done for the experience for slightly less.

If an outfit was upfront and offered this exact experience and explained to them in detail this is how it would pan out, Id bet 99% of their potential clients wouldn't book this hunt. Even if it was cheaper.

Everytime a buffalo charges, it feels as if No gun is big enough every man who experiences it will relate! Remember you can’t shoot a buffalo more dead than dead! But don’t be foolish, use enough gun! For some hunters it is a 9.3x62, no problem, but for others not even a 700 NE is enough! My opinion, a hunter who can put a shot in the right place using a well constructed bonded bullet is the key!

@Bob Nelson 35Whelen - I’ve looked for a .35 Whelen in Remington 760/7600 (older model w/wood stock) pump rifle. While they are occasionally available the price is usually ridiculous ($2000-$3000+). Do you think that Remington 760 pump Action will hold up to hotter .35 Whelen loads? I own two 760s (.30-06 & .308) and love that gun: 1). I’m a Lefty so they are very fast to cycle. 2). Accuracy is good “enough” 3 shots 1.5” @ 100 yrds.
I assume standards loadings for .35 Whelen are fine in a 760 so my Q is only regarding hotter loads. Thanks for your expertise.

He did not apologize and a number of his more hostile comments were deleted. Watch his YouTube channel if anyone wants to see how he hunts. Shooting from the truck and bow blind with rifle appear his most common methods for buffalo and PG. The high fence is a regular sight.

So I’m guessing he’s not a PH in Africa??? It seems like maybe there is a licensed PH in the background and he’s putting on the show for clients from South America. I’m confused.

I don’t know about the heavy 35w loads
But my first 358 w was a 760 and it shot the hot bb 358 loads fine ( they came with the gun)
I changed over to the dubble tap loads when I bought a case and stuck to them with the blr

If the factory guns are going 2-3k
You could do like my 358w was done.
A standard 308 sent off and recut to 358.
When I bought it around 2015 right around 300$ or so.
So a 30-06 rechamberd would probably be less than 2000.

I think he was actually posting trying to stir the pot and get some PM’s. To which he can offer some hunts/deals generating some potential clients without sponsoring/marketing. Same thing with some of the social media posts.

However, it cannot be ruled out that he is only the agent who accompanies his clients from Brazil and put on a show for them. I knew of a similar case in Burkina Faso. The French agent always accompanied his clients and acted like a PH in front of them. I accompanied the group as observer several times by buffalo hunting and witnessed the anger his behavior caused among the local guides. In Burkina Faso, there were no PH as we know them in southern Africa, but very competent local guides and trackers who did not need to be taught their work.

There are many ''so called'' PHs who are just agent and translator, but when they make their publicity, you can think they are well licensed PH.

I saw one in the past who bragged he was the guide in Zimbabwbe when a potential client asked who was the PH, but it was a big lie.

One of my PH told me once, an agent came with his client. It's not uncommon but his behaviour wasn't.

The agent was dressed like the PH the first day of hunting, and he was carried a nice double rifle. Why not, but It seems the agent thought he was running the hunt and when the team caught up with a elephant, the client shot the elephant with a body shot !

The elephant was well hit but before the PH had to do something, the agent backed up the animal twice, reloaded his double and started to run toward the elephant going away....A nightmare follower for a PH.

Earlier this year, I saw on Youtube a man who was with a client in the Caprivi Strip. He was clearly not the guide, because the well known PH was behind. But because he organizes huntings in different countries, he was in front of the camera with the client for his channel. They shot a buffalo in the heard with a double rifle and they started to follow it in the reeds. The bufallo charged the team and the "guide" fell down but fortunately, the true PH was behind and anchored the buffalo. They didn't say it, but the buffalo was in real a cow.
