I'm just jumping into reloading and wanted to see if anyone has any load data for 300 win mag:

Bullet:
180gr Nosler Partition
200gr Accubond

Powder:
Hodgen 4895
Hodgen 4831

Primer:
Federal 215M

Additional information:

Twist: 1:10
Barrel make: Christensen
Action Make: Defiance

My M70 .300WM like various bullets in the 180gr and 200gr variety using H4831. Go to Hodgdon's reloading website and follow their recipes.

H4895 may work for you, but it is a faster burning powder typically more suited for the lighter for caliber projectiles. But then, you never know how it may work out until you try.

One other thing. I've found H4831 to work well in various calibers regarding accuracy. Typical most accurate load however will not generally wow you in velocity. It's not that the velocity is bad, but mostly average.

The Nosler load data website has lots of info: https://load-data.nosler.com/load-data/300-winchester-magnum/

Pat McP, I use H4831 for both 180s and 200s in my Tikka. I’ve also had good accuracy with Ramshot Magnum.
That said, my current go to load in 300WM is the 165 Barnes TTSX bullet ahead of H4831 for nearly 3,200 fps. Barnes factory 165 ammo shoots very accurately as well, but 100 FPS slower. So far I have only killed a Texas Dall (208 yards) and a coyote (180+ yards), but it performed flawless on both.

Good luck in your pursuit of the perfect load!

Thanks Ridge walker. When I run out of the Nosler Bullets and I don't get what I want, I'll try Barnes next. From reading this forum, I'm surprised no one has said anything about A-Frames.

Just an FYI, I didn’t mention my preferred 200 grain is the Swift A-frame for when it has to be done. Sorry!
I prefer the Nosler Partitions in my 30-06. I think the lower velocity is more correct.

I use IMR4831 because it is easier to get a consistent supply. I've also used RL22 but found a bit better accuracy with the IMR4831.

the 2 best powders for a 300winny with 180-200gr bullets will be H1000 or RL22. 4831 and 4895 will be ok but not ideal. some guns shoot rl22 better some H1000 some shoot either well. 4831 will be ok but not ideal. You will need to play with the load to find the sweet spot and it will probably be right on the max powder amount from the manuals. have fun and be careful as you work up the load.

Good advice you've got so far - I too like H4831 SC when your working at 100% case capacity and you also might give H4350 a try as well if you have some on hand. H4350 is a pretty good all around powder for my needs and I have a lot on hand to work up loads with. Seems to be easy to find at most places as well. Its not a barn burner for velocity (if your looking for that) but behaves nicely.

Reloader 22 is my go too I load both 180gr Hornady BTSP and 200gr Partitions with stellar results, I do not have the load data with me at the moment but I do remember my best loads for each were 1gr under max.

My #1 does well with H4831sc and 168 or 180 TSX.
Magnum is preferred for 180 TSX, 200 Accubond or 200 Partitions.
Reloder 22 was very good but replaced it with VV-N560 for slightly better groups.
Magnum produces higher velocity than the others mentioned, is less sensitive to temperature and gives excellent groups.
80 gn of Magnum with 200 Accubonds gave 2800 fps and 83 gn (still under the book max) gave 3000 fps (26" barrel).
Reduce to 82 gn for Partitions.

Those that use RL-22 should remember that it is temperature sensitive. So work up your loads at similar temps to when you will be using them.
