COVID-19 Coronavirus UPDATES, BANS, CLOSURES, ADVISORY, etc.

Apparently, there are criminals in full operation sending out SCAM TEXTS and EMAILS trying to get peoples information.
It is focused on any government relief payments programs.
Businesses and personal.
Several programs going on in Canada and the Provinces.

I assume with the relief bill in the USA and elsewhere that they will be after people all over the world.

Please beware. Keep your information safe.
A man in California was just arrested for claiming to have a formula for Covid-19 Vaccine. He was scamming people to invest in a company so they could manufacture it.

You are right. Scammers everywhere.

"The next month is going to be rough, and there's going to be times that you feel frustrated and upset.

When that happens just stop for a second and consider many of the others facing lockdown around the world right now.

You should quickly self-correct to gratitude and empathy."

How can people blame trump get real
The United States now has more Covid-19 cases than any other country with over 82,400, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Congratulations America!
President Trump has made America First.

That's for sure
Right. The state of the Americas coronavirus outbreak and spread, is all Trumps fault. So is the extinction of the Dinosaurs.

I think some people should stay away from the CNN channel.

Yes, there are scammers everywhere, just as there were before Covid and just as there will be after. I am a firm advocate of punishing scammers. I am equally a firm advocate for people taking responsibility for their decisions. I will preserve my (unfortunately finite) well of sympathy for those who deserve it. There are plenty of victims of this pandemic who fall in that category. People who are hoping to profit from a cure are not in that category.

It is my understanding that Zimbabwe has closed its borders to all, except residents. As of Monday there will be a 21 day country wide lock down.

Nope, many other countries test way more per million people. United Arab Emirates leads by a long stretch. Germany, South Korea, Australia and a host of others also test more than the US. The US is picking up the pace of testing though, but they were slow to start, and that will cost in the long run.

I wouldn't either, but what becomes clear is that the data coming out of many countries is jumbled. Germany has a very low death rate, but don't test people who weren't tested for corona after they died. France is only reporting people who died of corona in hospitals, not in elderly homes or those at home.
Japan was reporting very low numbers, but that might have had to do with them hoping the Olympics would continue, now that's off the shelves the rates are expected to go up.
Russia...has anybody ever trusted Russia?

Ok and where is your source for this garbage? I'll tell you mine. Hi, my actual name is Drago. And I'm the director of global sales for one of the few companies who manufacturers the test kits and various other med devices that are being used to combat Covid 19. Once again stop reading headlines. I can assure you the United States is buying more test kits and equipment then 3/4 of Europe combined. And no I am not american if you think I'm being biased. Nor do I live in the US. For the third time. Stop reading headlines and repeating it as news. This is exactly why the world has the problems it has now. While taking a shit people scroll through social media. Read and headline. And repost it or talk about it. When 90% of it is garbage information.

And don't forget USA has been testing like this for about 2 weeks. Europe has been for over 6 weeks. Asia for 3 months. If that doesn't mean anything to you. Well sir you probably rode the short bus to school and had supervised lunches.

Corona is knocking at our doorsteps. I have read that CBD can help you with the symptoms at least since it does boost the imune system. In my country cbd+thc is given by the government to people with HIV so it does help with viruses. Use it id you have it.

If the US is buying tests NOW it means they haven't done the tests yet. I said the US was behind, here is an overview of number of tests as of March 20, the US was way behind. As I said, the US has been picking up pace in testing (as reflected by your claims about how much tests they are buying NOW), but it was slow to start (maybe you fell of the bus before you got to reading that part).

https://ourworldindata.org/covid-testing#covid-19-test-coverage-estimates-as-of-20-march

As of March 19/20:
UAE at the time did >12,000 per 1,000,000 people.
South Korea >6,000
Australia >4,400
Germany ~2,000
Austria >1,700
UK ~950 (and there are lots of complaints in the UK about the lack of testing
US ~313...

Since the US has picked up its pace in testing, and they might be buying by far the most tests now, that doesn't mean they have done most testing of all countries so far. They will probably get there though.

This source (https://www.businessinsider.com/number-of-coronavirus-tests-in-each-us-state-map-2020-3?op=1&r=US&IR=T) published on March 24 says 290,000 tests have been performed in the US, up from 10,000 on March 12, so about 1,000 tests per million people.
The most up to date data on testing in the US is collected on this website: https://covidtracking.com/data/
(a page solely dedicated to how many tests are being performed per state). As of 3/28/20 12:22 ET they had recorded 672,449 tests.
The UAE had done over 10,000 tests already for every 1,000,000 people on March 20 (likely much higher now as they haven't stopped testing). If the US would have the same test rate they would have done over 3 million tests. They are far from that.
In fact, with about 675,000 tests done, that's about 2250 tests per 1,000,000....about where Germany was on March 20 (and they've continued tested, as have many other countries), but still below Australia, South Korea and UAE. In absolute numbers they might have done the mosts tests now (but don't discount China), but that would be a poor reflection of the effort of the country to check on the health of its citizens.

You are correct. Confirmed by multiple sources.

This could be the understatement of the year on this topic.

One would have to be very naive to think that ANY government is being completely honest about their numbers in regard to the rate of infections, deaths, and tests given. Regardless, you don't need to be a rocket surgeon to figure out these numbers have a very limited relevance unless every single member of a given country is tested for the virus or the antibody. Without that being done, there is absolutely no way to know with any reasonable certainty how many people have contracted and recovered from the virus who had mild to no symptoms, never sought treatment, and therefore never tested. There is no telling how many folks, especially young folks, have contracted and recovered from the virus without ever knowing it. That factor alone will skew the numbers exponentially.

There are some ways to estimate how many people have been infected. Blood from blood donors could be routinely checked for anitbodies, and it might become included in pretty much any blood test done for the next few years.
They are also monitoring sewage water, and they are detecting the DNA of the virus in it now in towns with people infected. This will only provide a rough estimate, and the DNA will likely only show up when a significant amount of the people are infected.
But for the foresee-able future, disease and mortality rates will likely be skewed upwards, and retrospectively they will be able to estimate how many people actually had contracted the virus.

South Africa's poorest townships are in deep doo doo.

Just got back from the grocery store. HUGE difference compared to last week. Shelves are approx 90% stocked, compared to 30-40% last week. No T.P or paper goods, and minimal cleaning supplies. But...getting better.
I thanked an older gent that works there for the hard work in keeping the shelves stocked. I normally chit chat with this guy every week when I go in, but he was pretty busy today, and everyone is trying to keep a distance.

And where are these test kits supposed to materialize from?
