What are folks' thoughts on Norma ammo for both PG and DG?

I thought I’d add this. Even though I’m not overly impressed with the oryx for a bonded bullet I am going to use some on my next trip to supplement the remaining swift A frames I have. I wanted to verify Norma oryx ammo I bought different years shot the same. This was a 6 shot group from 5 different boxes today at 100 yards 300 win 180 gr. I’m really impressed how consistently they load their ammo.

Norma is a well regarded company that I feel has always used premium components.

Nothing flashy but very reliable. I'd use them all day long.

I have limited data with the Oryx bullet but did use the Norma factory ammo with 230 grain Oryx in my 338 Win Mag for Bongo hunt this year with great results. I used that ammo primarily because it shot very accurately in my Tikka T3 rifle. I do like their brass for reloading.

So, who has hunted PG in Africa with Norma Oryx 300 Grain in 375 H&H?

Hunters?

What are the experiences?
What exact animals did you hunt?

Sponsors, Outfitters?
You have much better sample of what the clients use. What is your opinion about that bullet?

Very good for all the African plains game species, as well as dangerous game species (except elephant or hippopotamus on land). When being employed against Cape buffalo, only broadside shots must be taken.

I never used the 300 grain Oryx...and you dont need .375H&H for PG.. Not to say it is a bad choice..on a one rifle trip for both PG and DG it is of course a good option. A 300 grain bullet is overkill for most PG, perhaps not for eland and maybe zebra.

The Oryx bullets are used a lot for moose in Scandinavia in smaller calibers..some swear by them, others claim they expand a bit to early.. Personally I would not use them on buffalo, Swift A-frame is a better option.

The only PG one can argue neccesity for .375 must be eland IMHO..

I shot a lot of PG in Nambia with my .375H&H, used bullets like 235 grain TSX, factory Remington with 270 grain core-locked and Federal factory with 260 grain Nosler Accubond. All performed well..the core-locked bullets did so well one has to ask if premium bullets really are neccesary for PG..

Also shot much PG with .308Win. Norma factory with 180 grain Nosler Partition..always worked..

Thank you for the LIKE on my old post. It brought back memories as I lost her a year and a half ago, at 18+ years.
