Man killed by Tiger in zoo in UK

This may be an unpopular opinion, but here goes anyway.

This is so sad to watch. I’ve got no idea what was going through this kids mind. It’s easy to jump to a conclusion about him and I’m not immune from doing just that.

This boy (my opinion here..) was conditioned (brainwashed), maybe willingly, into believing that he could spiritually overpower with love a beast that has been hardwired to never pass up an easy meal. This boy dying by his own decision is the product of children being taught that actions don’t have consequences if they are initiated by emotions that make oneself feel superior for having the boldness to commence that action.

Such a horror. The whole affair.

Unfortunately, some kids and young adults (don't know the percentage), think the world, and their life is like a video game on the internet, where they hit a button and puff, game reset. Not so much in real life.

Yeah because this shit never happened before the internet and video games……

I'm not saying it never happened before. There have always been stupid people, however, there seem be a trend. Just look at how many people get hurt/killed in Yellowstone, just to name one park.

I remember reading about an incident at a zoo in India where a grown man tried to photograph tigers by reaching his hand and camera through the iron railings. Unbeknownst to him, a tiger was sitting just below, and it lunged and severed his hand. His family watched in horror as the tiger made a meal of it.

The man was an adult, not a child, which makes you wonder what was going through his mind. Sometimes people forget that a zoo isn't their backyard and that these are powerful, dangerous animals, not oversized house cats. A little common sense and respect for the barriers can go a long way!

I agree. On a human level, this is a very sad thing. It could also be that he was mentally ill

That said, I am glad that the Tiger is OK

Also glad they didn't feel the obligation to put the tiger down. That said, I grew up watching "The Jungle Book" and even (Gasp!) Looney Tunes. These kinda thoughts never crossed my mind. Food for thought. I see many cases of parents allowing, even pushing their kids to embrace whatever reality they want. Wanna be a turtle? Be a turtle. Society is jacked and has been for a loooong time. It seems to me, someone got the FF button stuck in the past 20 years.

I agree with you on yellowstone, but I think that also has to do with more idiots having more access; back 60 years ago you didn't have car loads of Asian tourists driving through, but you still had people getting messed up trying to take pics with old 35mm cameras.

Just yesterday I was watching a podcast where they were talking about going to malls in the early 90's and there would be tigers & lions set up in cages and you could take your picture with them for $5; one guy had a picture of his highschool buddy that only had one hand because as a child he stuck his hand in the cage to pet a tiger and it bit his hand off.

As another example of things that were common place back in the day that people assume is only a recent issue is animal rights activists.

When Teddy Roosevelt's boat pulled out of NYC harbor for that epic Safari in 1909 there were protestors standing on the dock waving signs and screaming hateful remarks.

I can’t tell you the times I have seen people feeding gators even with no feeding gator sine up. I have worned people about getting to close to them

Unless it’s a kid I dont say anything anymore and just watch if there being stupid.

Well… he did willingly jump into an enclosure where a gigantic feline predator is.

So….

He probably thought the specimen at the zoo would be cute & friendly like “Tigger” from Winnie The Pooh.
And the Tiger is born here in Norway in the largest zoopark Dyreparken , he is a Amurtiger also .

When I was in high school in the early 2000s we went to the petting zoo in nearby Gentry Arkansas. Held a baby tiger, played with the pythons … I snuck my hand under a fence to pet a black bear cub and he nipped me enough to barely break the skin. If only I’d known the finger pointer technique…
Ever since then I always win in ‘two truths and a lie’ because I say I’ve been bitten by a bear and no one believes me. lol
Jumping in with the tigers is next level dumb though.

“Brainwashed….. product of children being taught that actions don’t have consequences?”

While I appreciate you’re compassion, this is basically the “avocado toast is keeping you from busy a house” type of argument, because mentally ill people jumping into animal enclosures at zoos has been documented in news papers for well over a hundred years.
I dont get the advocado toast house argument whats that about?

"I can't afford a house because my avocado toast costs too much." It is in regard to the victim mentality normally associated with the youngest 3 generations. For example: It wasn't the guys fault he jumped in with a natural born apex predator killing machine, it was the video game's fault. Forgive me, but that is my best shot to explain something I cannot understand myself. Hopefully, I shed some light on this.....topic.

My condolences to the family. This is a terrible thing to happen to any person, no matter how misguided they were in their actions here.

But, the family will probably sue the zoo. Not enough signage warning the Tigers might kill people and you cant overcome that instinct by speaking to them sternly or by escalating to waging your finger at the tiger. I bet he burned his mouth on the coffee served at the zoo, and the family will sue for that too.

a different but kind of same story.

when on the job as an EMT, a woman shot herself in the stomach with a 40 s&w, (did not die) was crying and saying "it hurts" i asked her as i carried her out on a stretcher....what did you thing was going to happen when you shot yourself?? she did not comment further.

very like jumping in a pen with a tiger, what were you expecting to happen?? dumbass. he did take his genes out of the gene pool.

Sad. I don’t have words for how sad and horrifying this is and the paralytic fear his caretakers must have endured throughout

My last post on this sad thread. From what I have seen, this person eas severely, mentally handicapped. I hope I'm wrong.

Thank you for the LIKE on my old post. It brought back memories as I lost her a year and a half ago, at 18+ years.
