Hi everyone,
I am looking to book a Cape Buffalo hunt in South Africa. I want to be upfront about my goals to see if any outfitters have a matching opportunity.
I am not a trophy collector and I don't care about SCI scores or wide spreads. My main focus is the traditional walk-up tracking experience on foot. I am specifically looking for a budget-friendly option, such as an old, post-mature management bull, a "scrabble" bull, a broken-horn bull, or an old warrior with a hard boss that needs to be taken out of the herd for conservation/management reasons.
I am looking for a 1x1 hunt. I am flexible with the dates and regions, and I am open to a short, focused 4 or 5-day hunt to keep the overall package costs down.
If you have a management bull available on your property with an attractive price, or if you are looking to fill a last-minute cancellation spot, please send me a PM (Private Message) with your package details and pricing.
Thank you for your time and straight shooting!

Hello @Beauceron ,

I highly recommend Derian Koekemoer Safaris. In fact I leave to hunt management 36” buffalo in the Greater Kruger with Derian in less than two weeks. This will my 3rd hunt with Derian. In addition to the Greater Kruger, Derian has several private reserves and concessions that could also accommodate this.

This may be exactly what you are looking for!!

Thread 'Old Bulls, Big Country – Reserve Buffalo Hunt 2026'

Good day AH community,

After two years of being sold out before we even get to the marketing season, we’re once again making this Buffalo hunt available to the public. It’s a solid opportunity for anyone who wants to hunt mature Dugga Bulls in a proper, wild setting.

This will be our fifth consecutive season on the reserve. Over the years, we’ve seen steady improvement in both Buffalo numbers and the age structure of the herds. Careful quota management has made a noticeable difference, and it’s encouraging to see more old bulls and cows each season.

The hunt takes place on a 44,500-acre...

Hi @Beauceron

Thank you for the detailed post. We can certainly accommodate the type of Cape buffalo hunt you are looking for, with the focus on an older management-type bull and a genuine walk-and-track experience on foot.

We are based in KwaZulu-Natal and would be happy to discuss the options with you and see if we can put together a hunt that fits your requirements and budget.

I’ll send you a PM with some more information.

Best regards,
Ruan Donald
