Maybe I'm just late to the party, but I found something out and I wanted to share in case anybody else has the same issue. At this stage in my life I need (not want) Illuminated Reticles on my scopes. But I also have been buying some vintage rifles that look much better with the period correct glossy scopes than they do with matte scopes. The only scopes I saw that were illuminated and glossy were the 3-4K Leica's.
But then, I discovered US Cerakote. For $100 they will professionally Gloss you're scope. It doesn't even void the factory warranty. They also sell the most of the Leupolds on their site wherein they have glossed them all. They sell for about $100 over what they normally would (that's the cost of the glossing). I recently committed to a 1959 Winchester Model 70 in 338 Win Mag. I got the attached Glossy Leupold VX-3HD Firedot glossy from them for it. It looks spectacular. Notice the box says matte. But when you open the box...
