I am looking to purchase a left handed, controlled round feed, dangerous game rifle. Must be left handed and have, a controlled round feed action, no push feed or sako style extractors please. Needs to have Iron sights aswell. Not to particular on caliber as long as it’s a commonly available cartridge.375H&H, 416 Rigby, 416 Remington, 458 Winchester, or 458 Lott are all contenders for me. Looking to stay around or under $3500. I am open to reasonable offers though.

Good luck!!! As a lefty, it is incredibly difficult to find LH dangerous game rifles. I had to luck into a Dakota in 416 Rem. But that was well over $3500…. I wish you luck!!!

I’m still looking for a Winchester Model 70 LH in 375 H&H for a reasonable price. The last one I saw was on GB and it was a Super Express for $4600. That’s almost what I paid for my Dakota. I’m not paying that for a Winchester.

I have seen several Dakotas on various websites and I have considered one. But I figured I would throw a line out and see if I could find something for a bit less. I am not in a rush so it is not a problem to wait around.

If you can find an $8000-10000 dakota, it will be 10x the firearm of a $3500 whatever. For a variety of reasons, the Dakota is the ultimate nexus between cost and quality. Spend 5x more than a Dakota, you may get only twice the rifle. Spending less, you're looking largely CZs and Winchesters. Not terrible, but not in the same league at all.

Good luck in your search.

I have a Parkwest in 7mm Remington Magnum and it is a fantastic rifle. But it is also a rifle that I will use far more often than one in a Dangerous Game caliber. I’m just kind of throwing a line out there. If I can snag something and maybe do a little work on it I’ll be happy. If not then I will see if I can find an action or up my price range. I have a right handed .375H&H ZKK 602, so I’m not without. Thank you for the advice.

A 375HH is the most used safari rifle you can buy. It justifies the most spend because of its utter versaitility. A lefty Dakota 375 would be an awesome find. You can also build loads to use them for North American game. I've owned several righties in 375HH and I've found them to be fantastic rifles too.

Good luck in your search. There are a lot of lefties on this forum so I think you'll find several good options.

You will come accross something. I'm left handed and we have to watch a lot of stuff but stuff does come up. What you are after comes up fairly often on here or there is currently a LH Mauser in 375 on 24hr campfire.

Both Gunbroker and Guns international have several Left handed DG rifles.

I got a lefty CZ550 & CRF Winchester M70 for less than 2k usd each. both with swarovski optics. Deals to be found, good luck

Among large companies only Blaser is producing LH rifles in African calibers.
Among small ones let me suggest to get in touch with Concari info@armeria-concari.com.
They produce splendid shotguns, double rifles, combos and repeaters with components made in house (e.g. Mauser bolt stop, completely milled, no investment casting).

Here you go.

Well put. When you say “5X more,” which rifles are you referring to? And I’d also be interested to know what goes in it to make it 2X the quality apart from brand name/resale value?

  1. Shilen and Douglas barrels like a top-notch custom build.
  2. Rust blued and hand polished
  3. Forged, not cast bottom metal and other small parts
  4. Color case hardening done to an exquisite level of quality
  5. Exceptional wood quality
  6. Hand checkered, and finished stocks
  7. Oil based finishes that can be reconditioned and restored, not poly
  8. Inletted sling studs rather than screw in cheap plugs
  9. Barrel band
  10. Standing and folding sights regulated to the load of choice
  11. Shadow line cheek piece finished by hand and proportioned to the Length of Pull
  12. Properly weighted rifle for the caliber in question, supplemented by recoil reducers to get the weight spot on
  13. Regulation targets with load data provided by the maker
  14. Fold up night sights upon request
  15. Quarter rib
  16. Integral bases using the Talley QD design
  17. Included QD rings
  18. Custom serialization
  19. Option to compose a pair or trio from the same wood or bookended matching
  20. Exceptional customer service and inexpensive reconditioning services for their products
  21. Ebony forend tips
  22. Proportioned stock and magazine wells to ensure correct magazine capacity for the selected cartridge whether 9.3x62 or 450 Rigby
  23. Proportioned true-magnum action correct for the caliber, 416 Rigby and 458 Lott are different actions with different throw lengths.
  24. Mauser claw extraction
  25. Three position safeties
  26. Hand tuned triggers with customer selection of pull weight correct for caliber and task
  27. Dual cross bolts, ebony plugged or metal exposed and engraved
  28. Glass bedding
  29. Barrel contour and weight correctly assigned based on caliber and total weight objectives
  30. Barrel length upon request to any desire

Those are just a handful of things that come to mind off the top of my head. You're not getting those things on any other rifle in that $10k-ish range. You're not getting 2x the quality for 2x the price from another maker, you don't start to notice major differences from what a Dakota is until you start spending around $50k-$70k.

And what do you get for LESS than a Dakota? Say for $6000-$7000? A mass produced rifle that might be "tweaked" a little bit for refinement, refinished, etc.

Good morning from Montana.

I'm looking at a post from 2018 where you were looking for a lefty Winchester in .375 H&H Magnum. I'm selling mine. My email is [redacted] in the event that you're still searching for a unicorn.

Best,

Kelly Palmer
