Tikka T3x Superlite will be just about right once a suitable scope and rings are added. Also something to keep in mind is that the dovetailed receiver from Tikka will accept QD rings without an adapter plate. Add in a Leupold VX-4HD 3-12x40 and Warne QD rings and the weight will be just over 7.5# before adding ammo and a sling.

To me, I wouldn’t want the super light in 300

The standard T3x is already a bit light for me.

Nonetheless, great rifles!

The nice thing about Tikka also is lot of options to compare pricing. This is Grice gun shop in PA now.

I think it’s the stock design more than the weight. A suppressor should help a lot. The good thing is there are a huge amount of aftermarket options for a Tikka. I wish they had better stocks, but Tikka is only budget rifle I know of that will have zero functionality problems. The triggers are great, smooth action that feeds perfect, and extremely accurate.
 
My most recent Tikka has been astonishingly accurate. With a suppressor, even a .300 Win a bit on the light side will be tame enough. Go get it and don’t look back. Put any $$ you save in better glass, etc.
 
The above are all good <$1K options, but consider a Wby Vanguard (or used Mark V Wby) as the (modern ones) are all threaded. Also: Any competent gunsmith or machine shop can thread any barrel for you (cheap), so don't let that hold your decision up! They are shooters out of the box (even if gently used!) GL This one is 1,099 on GI (w/ scope and Talleys). Do a search and pick your poison! You can also find very nice custom M98s in the same price range (had two in 300WM but sold 'em for $1K!)

I've gone to the Sportsmatch rings for Tikka. They really stay put. I hadn't seen that Warne has direct mount rings until your post. Those look great too.

Yeah, Christiansen arms is a problem child. I think there was a time when they produced a pre-high-quality product and then they decided to build their own clones 700 actions but they weren’t correctly designed from the beginning. I think they have mostly corrected those problems. Their original 700 action did not have enough secondary extraction. The rear part of the action was the wrong shape if you look at a 700 it’s designed as it comes up. The bolt is forced to pull out this is considered to be secondary extraction. Christensen will fail almost every time. Never touched a new one have no idea what they’re like. They have a very nice looking 22 long rifle, but it’s a complete piece of shit as well.
 
Tikka benefits from a different stock and trigger greatly.

That vanguards shoot, but they are just Howa’s with Weatherby stamped on the gun.

I have had several friends that cannot get their CA to shoot.

My friend just sent his 6.5 prc because its chamber was not cut correctly. Chewed up Hornady precision hunter factory loads and wouldn’t short with a shit.

Another had to send back a 308 that wouldn’t shoot at Al

You would be the first I’ve ever see suggest Tikka triggers need improvement. They are the identical triggers in Sako. I have them taken down to 2 lbs. There is zero creep or travel in any Sako or Tikka trigger.

I am not the first or there would not be an entire industry of Tikka Triggers. If you want the sexiest feeling trigger in the Tikka world get a Box N Andy. I have put one in several rifles including a 700, a Savage and a Mauser 98. Pure awesome.

I’ve considered Christensen Arms in the past, but the extraction problems a friend has been dealing with put me completely off the idea. Many trips back and forth to the factory, a couple of spoiled hunts, and the situation almost devolving to getting attorneys involved made me stay away.
 
I was considering a Tika T3.
The plastic bolt shroud, tigger guard and area around the magazine are plastic.
None of those things affect the functionality of the rifle.
That was a turn off for me.
I have read that the T3X now has a metal bolt shroud.

I have heard too many unhappy customers from Christensen Arms, especially for the price point, to be interested in being a guinea pig for them.

There seems to be a rash of makers with a lot of money dumped into marketing and PR and not enough into quality control.
