Needing some 570gr Swift A-Frames for my 500NE before a return trip Zim in a couple months. Would buy even partial box, but prefer a full box and happily buy 2-3+ boxes if someone had extras they wanted to get rid of.

Appreciate any assistance.

Cheers,
Will

Good luck. It's ashamed that a company can have such a good product and can't figure out production. I use Barnes TSX (I feel it's equal quality) and I can actually get it when I need it.

Good luck in Zim.

Agree, and I have started to wise up and to buy enough stock when it comes available. I just didn’t expect to shoot through so much of the 570’s this summer.

I’m of no help on the A Frames, I have seen North Forks available but only in cup point and flat point solids. Just in case I run across something, just to clarify, are you are looking for the .500 or .510 caliber bullets?

It’s for my 500 nitro express, so need .510 diameter. I have NorthForks and do hope they have semispitzers once again someday, but for the .510 NF only makes the flat and cupped solids last couple years.

Crisis averted.

Really appreciate this community in so many ways…the willingness to help a brother out is just one of them.

Huge thanks to my pal Frosty, aka @Hornedfrogbbq, for coming through in spades…and to @Buckums for slightly nudging him under the bus, reminding me where all his previous supply went. lol.

True gents…both of you.

Get on Swifts notification email list.

I find they have them in inventory every year but they go very fast.

Done! I’ve had my name on Swift’s order list for 6 boxes for a while, as well as on notify with midway, Grafs, etc. for quite some time. I try to avoid troubling myself typing out a thread and certainly avoid bothering you gentleman without thoroughly beating the living hell out of the bushes first.

I'm sure it's not a bother to anyone here. You don't know unless you ask. As mentioned in other threads Swift has had serious production issues for a long time that they can't seem to solve. I went the Barnes route solely due to availability. Good product that is always available somewhere. Not sure how much business Swift has to loose before they fix the problem.

I hear you. The two things you always hear about Swift…their bullets are great, they are always behind meeting demand. If enough people switch, they’ll be easier to get in hand at least.

I also like Barnes and use in some rifles. Wish they didn’t copper foul so much more, but great bullets still. I don’t use them in my doubles is all.

Didn't @Buckums buy your February for-sale 570gr? Then sold to @Hornedfrogbbq?
Quite a tale! Kudos to them both for helping you out. Not everyone would have done that, especially those hoarders hoovering up all the big-bore Swift they can sniff out for their "lifetime supply".

I use A-Frames and TSX (pleased with both) for DG, and fortunately my .450 Dakota has the case capacity for 500gr TSX. As we all know, there are some .458 calibers where A-Frame is indicated over the TSX. Hence I may in the future sell my .458/500gr A-Frames to some good oke in a real bind to handload in time for an imminent hunt. (Arbitragers need not apply.)

I don’t understand them either. They just can never meet demand of hunters. Frankly I wish they would sell to someone else who would invest as they clearly are not. Great product!!!

I like North Fork bullets as well, but they have similar issues. I got lucky and just ordered some 458's and 500 J they had in stock. You better get them while they're in stock whether you need them or not. I just received some 600 gr. Woodleighs as well. Same story there.

Treat big bore bullets like toilet paper during COVID. Buy all you can when you can.

Good news on the North Fork side of the isle! I spoke with Ekaterina today and they have a pallet of bullets heading to the USA very soon! I’m not exactly sure when the Eagle will land but I’m thinking within the next 30-45 days or maybe sooner. Cheers !

Sometimes bullets deserve to travel the world too. No need to judge. Lol.

What’s worse is I did the same damn thing with the 400gr A-Frames for the 450/400. Apparently it happens sometimes when you rotate through different doubles and add others. I found my Heym 450/400 shot the northfork better than the A-frames and loved the CEB’s, so no sense holding onto a bunch of A-frame I didn’t need and others could use them…so passed them along.

Same for the 570gr ones as well. My 88b didn’t seem to love them as much as others…but I of course complicated things by parting with that rifle when I got my new 89b 500NE…which seemed to favor the A-Frames over the Woodleigh 570’s. And as I was trying to work up a load that my vintage Westley Richards 450/400 regulated well with, I tried a handful of left over A-frames as a sort of experiment only to find the rifles shot superbly with them. So I ended up buying more to replenish those I had only recently parted with.

Moral of the story…just hoard everything.

Ah, now I get it, thanks.
Congrats on your new 89b, and good hunting in Zim!

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob
