My 2025 Pronghorn is done

Yes, as a non-res I should be able to draw pretty much any Pronghorn Tag in the state including the red desert units. The die off a few years ago from the winter storms and drought has had me holding off the last few years. When I decide to finally hunt I want perfect conditions to maximize my chances at a booner.
 
Very cool. Unique antlers/norms make for better trophies in my opinion.

Ironically, I recently acquired a whiskey barrel and have my pronghorn on top of it. Strange coincidence.

I love it, what a unique pronghorn!! I'd shoot that all day, everyday!

Hunting the Red Desert would be an epic hunt. The last few years have been rough on the Wyoming pronghorn heards.

No doubt. The red desert would be awesome but I don’t think I’ll have enough points in my lifetime since I’m starting over this year.
 
Very cool antelope - would've been my target if I'd seen him. Its such an odd prong, and broken lower as well - he would've been a heck of a fighter. Will be picking up my mount from a couple of years ago in Wyoming in the next couple of weeks - on the long road to rebuild points (though will never have an opportunity at the better units).

I hear that on the points. If shooting a B&C pronghorn is what you really wanted to do, a Landowner tag purchase is the way to just get it over with. Will it be expensive, yes but if you don’t want to wait a decade and a half that’s just how it goes for those of is who don’t live goat states.

Never been one to care too much about that sort of record book stuff - but agree that this is the correct answer for the big ones - you'll sink the difference into paying for points trying to build up and still never chase down the crowd. There are opportunities for nice antelope in most of the lower cost units too, and you'll get to hunt every few years.

Even 2 or 3 point units can put up some pretty nice antelope. This boy was big enough for me.

That’s a great goat. I am not a numbers chaser, but I see alot of guys wait years to try when they could hunt different places every year on a three state rotation to hunt more Pronghorn
 
Don’t mean to take over your post but thought you might like this one I guided a while back. 16”+ on normal horn and 18”+ on the dropper. Had to talk Dale into shooting it!

Yes the last few years have been tough on the herd which is why I’m waiting to maximize all the conditions. I’m sure I’m not the only one with that many points waiting.

You’re right if chasing a Booner, most people are too far behind points wise to catch up unless they’re really young. For everyone else a Landowner Voucher is the way to go. There are states and units that can be hunted every year without burning points which will let you keep building for some really good units. I try to hunt every few years without burning points and choose to spend money on the points instead of the LO voucher.

As an aside, here’s one that was just scouted and another AH member might have a crack at this year.

@Tdsmith517 what a great thread & what a great 2025 buck!

All the more so for me, as my wife & I are flying to the USA end of September on vacation which revolves around an antelope hunt in CO for a couple of pronghorn (his & hers)!

First time hunting antelope in America & super excited!

Congratulations on you buck! I would be overwhelmed if we can shoot anything as interesting as that!
