With having total knee replacement surgery last week and being confined to my recliner, I have entirely too much time on my hands, and it's getting expensive! I decided I really wanted a Rigby Rifle, as I am a lover of the romanticism and quality that the brand brings. If I bought a Rigby in a DG caliber it really would not get that much use. But... if I bought a Rigby Highland Stalker, I could get it in a Plains game caliber to take to Africa, but it could also be my go to North American Deer/Hog gun. So the Rigby would get plenty of use! After careful consideration I decided to get the Highland Stalker in .275 Rigby. Some will say I might be under gunned for some of the larger plains game on my 2028 list (like Sable) but I will stepping up the bullet to a 160 Grain Swift A-Frame from Extreme.
After searching for a Rigby Highland Stalker in .275 Rigby, I saw that JD Outfitters in Oklahoma had one at the ready. I "pulled the trigger".
Here is my first Rigby.

Well done. There’s one thing I reckon Rigby could do to improve the Rigby experience. And that is to get someone to shoot a decent test target. All of my Rigbys shoot significantly better than their test targets indicate.

Very nice rifle!

If my quick google search was correct, 275 Rigby is another name for the 7x57 Mauser. A perfectly suitable rifle for any PG.

Beautiful rifle! With my 275 I have taken loads of plains game and never felt under gunned. I have used 170 Norma Oryx, 160 and 175 North Forks the last 6 trips and never a single issue.

Remember, you shoot a better class of animal with a 275 rigby than with a common 7x57
Gumpy
I already ordered Ammo with the .275 Rigby Headstamp. No 7x57 headstamps going to Africa!

Congratulations!!! I had my rigby 275 opened up by JJ Perodeau for $300 so it will take any PG plus leopard on this earth with 175 grain bullets!!!

Wow thats great...so nice !!

Beautiful rifle there sir! Can't get any more classic than that except to maybe get a .416 Rigby to go with her. Haha
Well, I don’t have a Rigby 416 Rigby- but I do have a Dakota African 76 in .416 Rigby. They will be the 2 rifles going with me.

Do you mind me asking what auction you are referencing? I'm not in the market for any of those rifles...just curious.

Good morning from Montana.

I'm looking at a post from 2018 where you were looking for a lefty Winchester in .375 H&H Magnum. I'm selling mine. My email is [redacted] in the event that you're still searching for a unicorn.

Best,

Kelly Palmer
Gents, if you book and pay your deposit before the end of this year , you can have the bigger cull package for the 2026 price! https://www.africahunting.com/threa...griffiths-safaris-starting-at-us-2-560.96285/
