Is the 500 Jeffery really superior to the 458 Lott in stopping power?

Nothing wrong with a 458 Lott for dg backup but it cannot compare to the performance of the 500 Jeff.....

DG is not supposed to be hunted at 250 yards, no fun IMO
 
500 Jeffery vs. .458 Lott vs. .505 Gibbs vs. any other big-bore caliber when it comes to stopping power, the Jeffery and Gibbs have proven themselves over decades, if not centuries.

Case capacity and bullet diameter matter, but in my view, what makes the biggest difference is shot placement when stopping a close charge and, equally important, using the rifle you are most comfortable handling, feeding, and shooting accurately.

The best big-bore stopping rifle is ultimately the one you can control, cycle quickly, and place the shot where it matters, especially when things go sideways at very close range.

no sir my bear is was number 29# sci scott roberts and the lion thati killed wiht Len Taylor was The biggest Lion in Zim that year and the skull was # 26 in the sci but . I havent got i back yet - so it was official measure in the Zim but not isn sci until i get it back but it is registerd wiht the Zim F and G , and I will put it in the Book becasue the ANIMAL AND THE CONSERVATORY DESERVE THAT AT A MINIMUM imho thanks
