Well seem to work OK :E Big Grin:

....small bead which I like...hate some of the new ones with a to me huge blob....covers too much of what aiming at as far as I am concerned....

It makes all the difference.

One of my only gripes about my Rigby highland stalker is the front sight is too “blobby” for me. I shot a red deer with it a month or so back and at 100m a fair portion of the chest was taken up with the front sight. I think the 250 yard folding leaf is…optimistic.

I don’t mind a post either but a small bead like what the Cz 550 lux have is perfect. Doesn’t need to be fancy, just needs to work.

Would say my 190 paces probably bout those distances...as ground bit uneven and odd bush to circumnavigate..

Half a dozen woodchucks with 140 grain bullets this summer. One at 187 yards with peep sight.

Mule deer doe at 35yards. 173gr. European "Blue-tip" at 2,450fps. Ruger #1A. Bullet broke into 2 pieces. Shank made a rectangular exit hole out the off shoulder. The doe ran 20yards and bounced off a 2' diameter Spruce tree.

She carries a 26” barrel with a solid rib on top. I firmly believe it helps the accuracy considerably. Peep sight helps also. For big game I use 175 grain round nose bullets. Double set triggers also aid accuracy.

Where are you finding 175 RN bullets? I like those for my Ruger 7x57 and plan to use them for a custom built 7x57 once its built next year.

Federal has a 175gr. RN load. Profit River in Alberta has pulled 175RN's for sale..

Hornady does not currently have a 175RN bullet. Their's is a sort of pointed corelockt or interlockt bullet. I am sure it will act be quite similar on game and flatter shooting especially out to 200yds.

Hi,

Hi is one of my sons with his first Red Deer. This was 27 years ago. The rifle is my Original Sporter DWM 7mm Mauser made with the M93 action. The scope a Hensoldt Diasta 4x32 from the sixties. Still in the rifle, of course. My sons were the 5th generation who use this rifle, being my great grandfather the original owner. It is still in his original rust blue and stock. The only modifications were the bolt handle and the drill and tap for the scope base. The load used: Winchester case, IMR 4350, Speer Mag Tip 160 grs at 2700 f/s. More than enough with the shoulder shot. The deer didn´t move a step!
