How to do the tough hunts into your 80's

What part of Nevada are you located? That photo looks very similar to out along the state line in 015. I’ve spent a lot of time wandering around that lonesome country. Love it out there.

And God knows there’s tons of mustangs all over that region.
So Im way up north close to Idaho line, It is quite unpopulated here.

The joint replacement technology is excellent as a sufferer of rheumatoid arthritis i have had my right knee replaced, my left thumb joint replaced, my left wrist joint fussed with a plate & a bone graft with a bit from my hip, & 9 weeks ago my right hip replaced my wife thinks am part robot. I thank the skilled surgeons who make this possible. i will continue to hunt with my sons until the end. The hip was nothing like the knee very quick recovery & very little pain.

There are a lot of factors in how long you stay fit. My uncle Tim is only 11 years older than me. Though a true master craftsman, he chooses to cut firewood for a living at 83 yrs. old. Every September, after cutting wood through the summer from 6am--noon, he weighs exactly what he did in high school, 134 pounds. Needless to say he can still walk up the pheasants and anything else he wants to do. I wouldn't even blink if he wanted to do a mountain hunt this year--I know he could do it.

An old friend, Bill Crawford in Ft. Worth was going on what turned out to be his last mule deer hunt in Colorado. He always went in the rut, which meant lots of snow, and hunted on foot. I was a lot younger then and remember saying to myself, "man, he needs to rethink going out there alone." Now, I am the age he was then (72) and I don't think I am finished.

I'm sure you understand when you loose weight because of the drugs(Mounjaro, Zepbound..) you are not only losing fat but also muscle mass which inlater years is difficult to replace.
Respectfully that's not been my experience. I do lift weights and do various resistance (push ups, pull ups) three times a week. So I actively maintain muscle mass, which you do need to do with these drugs. But ideally we'd be doing that anyway. I lost 20 pounds of fat effortlessly with Zepbound and at 56 am in the best shape I've been in since my early 30s.

Sugar is death.

Swartzenegger called it "white death" back in his body building days.
@steve white - funny that the top Mr. Olympia body builders carefully avoided sugar but Not the steroids…My gym friends in the 1980s all admired the top Olympia competitors but they had No reason to avoid steroids, No drug testing done during the competition (except for 1990) and still none done. Steroids and performance enhancing drugs are still a critical part of being successful in competitive body building except for some “All Natural” competitions. However, Sugar provides no benefits and at least steroids make you “Look Good”.

It's very gratifying to read so many of the comments from people who continue to enjoy life past the time when sadly so many give up. I am 79 years on my life's continuum and heading to Tanzania for buffalo in October, but not before Scuba diving in Cozumel and a few weeks of grouse hunting. The point is, never quite that spirit that is life itself.

EXACTLY! My doctor couldn't fill a thimble with any credible information about nutrition. Lots of good resources, yes, even on YouTube.
@steve white
I told my doctor I ain't seeing her anymore
She asked why
I told her everytime I see you you find something else wrong.
Lately Ive had more tests than a kid at high school. Told the lady that takes blood stuff this just take 2 pints of blood it will save so many trips.
Getting older ain't much fun.
