Hello all,

My family is planning a vacation to Hawaii in 2028. While there, I’m thinking about booking a hunt for either axis deer or sheep. I’d also like to bring my own gun.

I’d appreciate any feedback from those who have done this. I understand that you have to go get finger printed at the local police station and register any firearms within 5 days of arrival, any tips on getting through this exercise would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
 
I haven’t but John Burrell High Adventure Company operates hunts there…
Pineapple Brothers…
Most hunting is not on the big island although that one huge ranch there used to do hunts for Pigs and those wild/feral sheep/goats
 
I hunted the have hunted the Big Island twice for sheep and hog.
Good times and a great add on to a beach vacation for sure.
I used the outfitter rifle both times because I didn’t want to deal with the registration BS.
The outfitter I used passed away and not sure what happened to the business.

Are you referring to the Parker Cattle Ranch?
 
I have been many times and the registration takes about half an hour. Just read up on it in advance on where to go and what amount of money order to bring because you cannot use check, cash, or card. I get my money order a day or two before my flight.

I only hunt with my own rifles so I plan and enjoy my hunts.

I have hunted boar, spanish goats, mouflon, black hawaiian, and vancouver bull all on big island.
 
There was pheasant hunting on Lanai, but not sure it's still available since Larry Ellison bought the island.
 
I hunted with Pineapple Brothers on Lanai last year. Had a great experience and shot two stellar axis bucks and bonus doe. Took my own rifle (couldn't take a suppressor though).

I will say they increased their package prices shortly after our trip and it's fairly expensive now. I'm happy to answer any questions you have in more detail if you'd like to shoot me a DM.
