For trade - One kidney (well used) for airfare

@Boyd Brooks Thank you Sir! I'm not the most learned in airports especially international. I appreciate you!

Save some typing and it doesn’t save any time. My point was, in 2018 I flew to Africa for what a Caribbean vacation flight costs now.

Understood. Thanks.

I flew economy this past March for about $1700 each.
Eagle Colorado to San Francisco, Auckland, then on to Timaru the next morning.
Came back through Houston.
I did book everything myself on that trip.

Round trip
Right now I'm showing 1900 to Auckland similar dates. Then I booked separately to Timaru from there.
I flew united from Eagle.
I just ran the whole trip again
$2200 round trip
So it has gone up some But not like the numbers you're looking at.
I booked on the United app and also the air New Zealand app for in country flights.

One tip I’ll give you is search form the hub not BNA. Book that then book your flight to the hub separately when prices are lower. You’ll be in a different itenerary and have to claim your gun and recheck but it can save a huge amount of money.

Example. I did a search on JFK to Auckland and it is $2100 on American. Search the same dates from BNA and it is $8000. I’m quite white you can fly to JFK for a few hundred dollars.

Flights have definitely increased over the last 6mo and that’s not out of the norm. I saw something similar on my flights to Beira. Economy was a good bit more than that.

I’d second searching the hub. You might also want to play around with searching a day or two before. Last year I found a ticket that was $1250 cheaper RT to fly a day earlier out of the hub. Flew in a the night prior, crashed with an old army buddy, flew out a day early and spent $120 of the $1250 savings on a hotel and got a good nights sleep.

It has all been going up even before the Iran conflict began. I pay the highest prices of most anyone due to my home airport being San Angelo and being AA captive. I am trying to get my SJT-DFW leg done for Pakistan in December (Turkish DFW-IST-KHI). I was waiting for it to get cheaper than $488rt but looks like it is just going to go up. Imagine a 36 minute flight round trip for nearly $500! Y'all got anything worse than that?

At that price I’d probably drive. Surely you have a friend in DFW that would let you leave your car at their house.

My area must be out of the norm. I have 3 regional airports within an hour and a half from me. Aspen, Eagle, and Grand Junction.
I check them all for every trip and without fail at least one and sometimes all are cheaper than Flights out of Denver. And sometimes they connect in Denver.
This year I'll have flown out of each of the 3 depending on the best route or price.

A couple of things I didnt see in the post were:

*What are the dates you are going and for how long.
*Are you flying on a preferred US carrier for points/miles (?)
*Do you have to fly out of Nashville ? Its a 4 hour drive to ATL - It may be cheaper to overnight and leave from there ?
*Are you taking a rifle with you ? Some airports are better at clearing guns without a TSA hassle than others. (Newark, O'Hare, Atlanta come to mind as being the worst).

I fly almost every week for work domestically, IAH is a complete s**t show right now. Anything less than a 2 hour connection and you may be running for your life to catch a plane. SFO has remodeled since Covid and is a wonderful airport to fly out of or get a connection. LAX can fall into the Pacific along with the rest of SoCal and it wont be missed. Given my options for a hunting trip I'd rather fly out of DFW if given a choice.

Various wars/conflicts have caused oil/gas prices to skyrocket oil is up from ~$70 barrel pre Iran conflict to ~$100 barrel this week. Airlines added a fuel surcharge/upcharge a while back and haven't reduced it.

Jet fuel is way up and NZ does not refine any. They buy it on the open market, good luck doing that! Prices will go higher until the Iranians quit.

We have workers flying in from South Africa every spring. Houston Hobby is (or at least was a few months ago) much easier to get through than IAH. There is a flight from Hobby to Atlanta to JBerg with minimal layover.

Looking at:
Nashville to Houston
Houston to NZ
Return:
NZ to San Francisco (Ugh....gross)
SF to Nashville
This will be mid June.
It may be cheaper to fly Southwest to Hobby and Uber to IAH. You might also look at flying in Sydney or Melbourne and fly to New Zealand from there.

Yes, airfares have risen because of fuel costs. Now, if you have a Liver for trade that not pickled, let me know.

$3300 to NZ really isn’t that bad. I just dropped double that to Australia next week but that’s a business ticket.
For coach, that seems awfully high

I just looked at flights to MSP from College Station and they were $1042. Similar situation, only American flies, 4-6 flights a day. 27min flight to DFW or a 3hr drive.

Well, you could drive to Austin.

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.
